That solo has a swing to it like no other. One of his best.
@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros92668 ай бұрын
This song is actually somewhat of a modified jump blues, which in turn is a derivation of swing. David Lee Roth is a fan of big band music and it shows in some songs like this one. That's why this song has that SWING to it.

@chrishenley4179 I'm talking about the band as a whole too.
@rlm44718 ай бұрын
@chrishenley4179 Dave had a significant role in writing these songs. Eddie wasn't really a songwriter. He was more of a riff writer, especially in the early days. He would come in with a bunch of riffs, and Dave would pick what he liked and work with Eddie to develop it into a complete song. That is why there is such a huge difference between the DLR and Sammy eras, and why III sucked so bad (they wrote all the music without Gary, and he had to come in and do his best with a bunch of mediocre songs that didn't suit his voice).

EVH is once in a decade talent, but Jimi Hendrix and Les Paul are eternal. Les Paul was among the first to experiment with solid-body electric guitars that resulted in the Gibson Les Paul, he perfected overdubbing and other recording innovations, and he sold millions of records and had a TV show. Go read Les Paul's Wikipedia page.

skierpage once in a decade? I can’t think of another guitar god/hero that has ascended to Eddie’s level in the past 30 years. I would put EVH and Jeff Beck ahead of Clapton, Page and Richards on the RS list of greatest guitarists of all time. Yeah, those three came up with great iconic tunes and riffs, but really, all they were doing was recycling blues and R&B chord progressions and riffs. EVH and Beck were far more innovative and creative, always looking for new sounds and techniques. Had Jimi Hendrix lived, he would have loved the stuff EVH and Beck came up with as time went on. I would put Chuck Berry ahead of Clapton, Page and Richards also, since he speeded up blues progressions and created R&B and Boogie Woogie, but behind EVH and Beck.
@guillermo35642 ай бұрын
@@mkay1957 I wouldn't give RS any credibility when it comes to their lists. They're different every year. Page is always way too high on these lists. He was a plagiarizing, heroin addicted, pedophile. I can take the heroin, lots of junkie rock stars through out time. But I can't get past the appropriation of all that great music, claiming it and having to be court ordered to pay royalties. Then there was the 14 year old girlfriend. I can do without Jimmy page.

I've been a musician since I first started loving music, my best friend growing up was a drummer. He is freaking godlike, but he really got me to appreciate how amazing some drummers really are. Me and him always laid down the foundation of killer rhythm, I played bass and vocals, he drummed and also did vocal harmony. Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and many others blow others out of the water. It's that confusing, constantly changing right at the edge of sounding off beat rhythm that makes you understand that they're genius.

Even though l was a big Van Halen fan, l said nothing and just did my job. The search was a considerable delay for him, yet he never got testy or acted like a male diva, he remained calm and polite the whole time and we actually had a gret chat. I never mentioned his fame until we had repacked his belongings and he asked if he could go and l replied 'yup, you might as well jump'. He laughed and shook my hand. To this day l remember him as a nice genuine guy. ( and if he had a stash somewhere, l couldn't find it - haha ).
