I intend no disrespect to anybody. Van Halen's first album came out when I was about 11. When David Lee Roth hits that insanely high note on "ACROSS the room," on "Dance the Night Away" on VHII, you can't beat that. But even though he's younger, his vocal range hasn't been as good as Sammy's as they've gotten older.

It seems like Van Halen as a whole was a lot happier with Hagar as their frontman. I know a lot of people prefer Roth but I think that's only because he was the original and with him Van Halen had many great songs, which started their career. But me, I prefer Hagar because I just think he has a better voice, then and now. And there was much less drama with him in the band.

If it it took 2 hours at 65mph that's 130 miles. It would only take about 22 minutes longer at 55mph. Certainly not all day. Obviously, he wasn't doing the speed limit before it changed to 55, anyway. 16 hours at 55mph is only 2.5 hours longer than what it would have been at 65mph. That being said, a great song and great version of it.

It's literally because VH matured over Dave's first 6 albums. Eddie wasn't the rock star living guy that Dave was. He was about music and after 6 albums and over 10yrs together he needed the break from that. Hell Dave kept down that road where Eddie and Sammy although still rocking and partying matured musically. Sammy did some of his best work with VH. I still am team Dave VH, but loved me some Solo Sammy a little more than VH Sammy

Clashing egos. Even though they performed a few of Hagar's classics, Eddie insisted on being the writer for the instrument side of all Van Halen songs. Sammy likes writing songs and wasn't going to stop doing it and he wanted to record the songs he wrote. He was perfectly willing to keep putting out solo albums with the stuff he wrote, but Eddie insisted that Van Halen wasn't a part time gig and if Sammy wanted to be in the band then no solo projects were allowed.

Sammy for his age is a better singer than DRL, but he didn’t cover a lot of the back catalog with VH. And let’s face it the first 4 albums are still pound for pound better than any album they did with Hagar. Also I would rather have Eddie stay clean and sober and not become a rock n roll casualty.
