Jacob - you are profoundly talented. I'm a 48 year-old playing guitar for over 25 years, but seeing the pure joy and natural abandon with which you play makes me want to grab my guitar, lock myself away, and play 12 hours a day. You are made for this, rock on.

Man I feel the same way. Been rocking Van Halen since seventh grade. In all the time since then I've seen lots of bands try and cover Van Halen, not one guitarist has done it like this in my opinion.
@timc36652 жыл бұрын
@@fullcontact5732 The Ragged Impresarios did a cover of this song. It was technically perfect and enjoyable to listen to. This guy made a few mistakes. He played behind and ahead several times. He hit the wrong note in a chord once or twice. Nevertheless, I enjoyed his version more than the other. The imperfections make it human and relatable. He's bold enough to try a song that flusters most guitarists. He does it better than EVH typically did it live. That's why you like it. That's why I like it.
@fullcontact57322 жыл бұрын
@@timc3665 .... Actually I'm most impressed that he was this young when he was able to do this song. In the years since he's done lots of other Van Halen songs that are as perfect as you can get. Note for note and he gets the tone right.

I hope you're happy that you've completely destroyed my day at work - lol! I just found your channel last night and I cannot get enough of the VH, DLR centric, covers. To the point, both Little Guitars deliveries are spectacular. The initial ripping at 14 to selling with emotion on this one. Also, the "balance" in the Cathedral cover is brilliant. Bottom line, I'd pay $1,000.00 USD to spend the night on that couch with a keg of beer within arms reach to listen to you work live. Keep it up!!!

Seriously John? 1000$ US? Well let's plan something then lol. We will need that money soon to record a demo. Let's follow Jacob's career you will have plenty of occasions of investing money in him and maybe met each other. Jacob's father.

+sarah paxton The De"rips" family is in Quebec, Canada... So, they are far from neighbors (I'm in Arizona, USA). If the logistics were within reason, I was seriously going to take up conversation with Jacob's father to visit. I have play-listed all of Jacob's VH material and looped it during gatherings, card parties and related. Nobody that's been exposed sits still! The "Loss of Control" collab is killer! Merci beaucoup Jacob!

props to you dude. sounds great, it really does. Do you know why Eddie van halen became eddie van halen? Not because he became an excellent technician and practiced, practiced , practiced. He achieved greatness because he was able to imagine those hooks, and riffs, and melodies/ harmonies in his mind before he even tried them out on his guitar. You are young and have a bright future, but greatness lies in writing these songs, not learning them. Good Luck

Nice mate, you should do a cover of David Lee Roth's Little Ain't Enough, it has a cool riff and is speckled all the way through with killer Jason Becker fill-in licks. An ideal showcase for your talents. Sadly the album it is off, was one of the last productions Becker was involved in (as a guitarist) before ALS stole his ability to move.

My gawd man - where on EARTH did you find that guitar?!!? Those pre-lawsuit Ibanez axes are SOOOOOO hard to find now - but especially the Custom Agent 2405's!! How much of your guit in this vid is completely stock? Yours looks exactly like the models made from 1972-73 with the particular pearl inlay tailpiece it has - do you know the exact year of manufacture for yours? Definitely has no serial number, right? Any chance at ALL you'd sell it? Seriously.
