Just a quick note about performing, showmanship, energy, attitude, and confidence. I've noticed negative comments in the past about some people who don't like the way Jacob behaves physically in his videos. I am very happy to see that there are positive posts here about his performance while playing. Personally I love watching him play and perform. Its entertaining and makes you smile and feel good. It also shows how comfortable and relaxed Jacob is while playing. Sorry, but I have always hated the videos of the dude shot from the shoulders to the knees sitting on a stool. Very lame. Jacob, Don't change a thing about how you play or perform based on any comments you might read here. Do what makes you happy and feels right.

That's right buddy, it's a breath of fresh air watching Jacob get into his playing. That boy is blessed with true talent and he exudes that no matter what he is doing musically. I swear Jacob has the Van Halen covers down to the T. He is dead on all the way down to the harmonics he does not miss one chord. If I were to close my eyes I would honestly say that I thought I was listening to Eddie Van Halen. Dweezil Zappa knows how talented Jacob is that's why he had Jacob get up on the stage at one of his shows to introduce him and that's where Jacob played eruption.Diesel Zappa certainly sees the challenge in Jacob and I certainly know that I see it. Eddie Van Halen had a lot of moves on the stage was always dancing and was always smiling. You go Jacob

Critics of his dancing are ridiculous because Eddie danced and smiled all the time.

You know that extra talent someone has? Jacob is 100 X beyond that. Wow! I learned guitar later in life and even tho I'm not great it makes me feel good and I hear songs differently now. Love Jacobs physical expression. That is the way music is supposed to be. Not everyone has that, which is OK too but you really feel the energy, passion and style he has with his one in a million skills.

One of my favorite VH songs. You crushed not only the main solo, but the outro as well, AND paid attention to the rhythm parts, too. Bravo.

Then I'm brought back out of my minds eye and see him having a great time and it dawn's on me ....he is having very similar experiences to these songs. Friggen love it dude!! I know these videos are older but I love watching them!!

Jacob, you captured the energy and feel of the great Edward Van Halen. This is the best rendition of this song anywhere! You've even captured the ALL of the pick slides throughout the song which many others miss. And thanks for standing up while playing, you're having fun with the song and it helps make the music come alive, kinda like Eddie would do. All the best bro!

I was a young kid & rookie guitarist when all this music was coming out and NOBODY could do it back then like you can. We ALL tried believe me. So this is love is one of my favorite songs' thanks for covering it. I don't know how anybody could give you a thumbs down??? Don't pay any attention to any of the negative garbage. @@atomicfriendo Well I'm 51 so any guy younger than me I usually refer to as a kid. It's by no means an insult so I hope he doesn't take it that way. I just found him yesterday on KZbin. Had never heard of him before. I checked out his live version of AC/DC's "If You Want Blood" which rocked but he's no doubt very talented.

Eddie wasn't this good at your age and he's eddie ...he created all this stuff, but...your next leap is to stop covering and start creating...there is safety in covering, and the risk of sounding like others when you break free...unless you want to be the ultimate cover guitarist...play this stuff at 60 and you'll still be the coolest cat in the company!

Great job, I have been playing longer than you have been alive, and still struggle with this song.. lol I do have a suggestion, instead of jumping around like you need to piss, maybe get a little closer to the cam so other guitar players can see how your playing it, would be great to be able to pick up some of the licks off the video.
@Hrothgar989 жыл бұрын
No way I can come anywhere close to this good. Nevertheless - he kind of jumps the gun a bit when when he goes onto the next phrase, so his playing kind of has a rushed feeling. Maybe just nerves. He also missed a couple of pinched harmonics. Grade: 88% (A-) (My grade, if I attempted this: F- )
@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre15046 жыл бұрын
After seeing a couple of your vids where they were very authentic was surprised you didn't nail that solo (particularly the rolling chromatic bit at 1:36) but am aware of the difficulties of that phrase, have not heard it played correctly ever by anyone other than Eddie. Saying that you'll never be short of Van Halen tribute bands wanting to hire you but you gotta work on the moves, Eddie much cooler. You're mannerisms are more arrogant like "I can play this shit easy" whereas Eddie, the composer of this stuff, isn't really coming across as "look at me aren't I good" he has more of a fun approach. I think modesty in a player comes across as far more sexy than the "aren't I wonderful approach".

Something is not right. I am looking at his right hand doing a pick scrape, but I don;t hear it. Also earlier I hear a chord but see his hand not hitting that chord. I bet Deraps is a very good guitar player, my advise is don't lower yourself to these cheap video tricks by sitting down playing it (for the music) and then a video moving around with the sounds down.
