As a car driver who has never had any accidents or penalty points in over 30 Years as a driver... You see van drivers texting and making calls on handheld mobiles while driving...tailgating... ragging the van about like a douchbag.... Overtaking when it is not clear and safe to do so.. I can see why insurance companies stick it "Right up" van drivers... My car insurance for my 2.0 Litre petrol car is £280 a Year ..And so it should be cheap... 30+ Years of driving without any accidents.. And no I do NOT pootle along at 18 MPH ..I go with the "Flow" and keep a 2-second gap between me and the car in front stops..So can I. I have learned the highway code and know what all the road signs mean and yes they also apply to YOU. If you insist on ragging your van about like a douchbag, tailgating, not using your indicators, jumping red lights & using your handheld phone while driving... You will have to pay more for insurance than I do for my car... Simple as that!

A word of warning... You need Courier Insurance not Van insurance. As soon as you say you are a Courier the cover wil increase.

Great post mate. Literally went straight to the website as my renewal is due early October. Got a great quote at £688 compared to my current insurer wanting £959. Took their offer of breakdown cover too which was around £60ish.

I managed to find the top one "freedom" on a different website. All other quotes were over £2000 freedom were under £1000. Although I do have to have a black box fitted. But to save £1000 its well worth it. And if I'm careful it should give me a discount next year. Great video, I'm bookmarking this site for next year 👍

Try Admiral I pay £950. This is H & R insurance, I do have 13 years NCB.

Business Choice Direct, They take advantage of the new courier drivers. Personally i Don't recommend BCD. CX does recommend them, but they gonna rip you off, they are very expensive and you don't want this as a new Courier starter. Do some research before you jump in.

Bcd felt like the only choice. Ripped me right off £386 per month, £4,600 total. Cancellation fee £388 fu. Current insurance £1,200. BCD= Be Careful Drivers.

Go compare do courier insurance. I've got one of those tracker boxes 60,000 miles. Proper courier policy. £1000 a year for 18 plate berlingo. Got my git etc for £50

funny i saw this. i just had the same situation. in the states you renew your auto insurance every 6 months. and mines just renewed. $1200 for 6 months coverage. renewed now its $1800 for 6 months. went up %50 without a peep from the insurance company. i called and a rep told me inflation. I said inflation my ass. I'll be looking for a new insurance company thats what I'll be doing.,

Not sure why couriers don’t normally shop around try all the comparison sites you can save hundreds of pounds in just a couple of hours looking why pay more for the same cover

I told them that I don't own the van because DVLA do they own the title they also own all registration plates so you are not the owner

Hi Paul, sorry I missed this, yes hire and reward will cover courier work, hire and reward though come in many classes and the broker or insurers will need to narrow it down to fit your needs
