I’m Australian and a former school teacher, so forgive me for not knowing Tim Walz very well. What I will say is he’s a pleasure to listen to. He speaks well, in coherent sentences and knows exactly what he is talking about. He had me when I found out about his policy for feeding children before school. I lived in Minneapolis for 5 years. It is a city one can live without an automobile. Walkable, hundreds of miles of greenways for bicycling, healthy running culture, healthy ice skating and public transportation that is one of the best in the US. Most places in the US everyone is forced to drive, rat race like. With so many Americans being over weight or out right fat. The US needs to become more like Minneapolis.

It's wild how different Van Jones' perspective is on this, everywhere I've heard discussion on this the talk has been that Shapiro was the risky candidate (Gaza, not well liked by educators, mishandling sexual assault incident in his staff) - fair or not, these are things we'd have to battle about with our own base. Also, Trump was freaking out right after Walz had an appearance on Fox (didn't have that reaction after Pete was on there several occasions). My sense is that they are actually scared of Walz. He can appeal to young people, progressives, working class, union men/women, rural, military, and educators. He's got such a broad appeal to him and he's hard to attack because he feels like a nice, everyday guy who talks straight forwardly.

Van Jones is one of the sharpest political commentators on television, but I can’t agree with him on this. I don’t know what reliefthe right he is hearing but Walz should be scaring the hell out of Trump. Mark Kelly is a good man, with a captain America record, but he has zero charisma and didn’t exactly win in a landslide in Arizona. Shapiro is very sharp, but not as likable. Walz might end up being more popular than Harris. He’s likable, sharp and has that Midwest small town, no-nonsense attitude that wins people over. Trump wishes Walz could be his running mate.
