You done f***** up! You didn't take into consideration the thickness of the mattress when you made that fold down desk surface. So once you get the mattress in there, there is not going to be any room for your legs. LOL!

I have the same van .well a 1998. Same. Mine has barn doors. Only difference. I have a question. I've never driven a 1 ton before. Does yours make a roaring/ whining noise. Mine does. But seems to be drivi g and running just fine. Have had it checked out. But it still worries me. Trying to get ready for the rtr in AZ come Jan. Really could use an answer . Love your build. If you don't mind im gonna copy it l. Peace ✌. Subd and liked.

Mine is a 2001. Which engine does yours have? Mine kinda has a whining noise that I feel like may be the same sound in which you are referring. If that is the case and your exhaust system is free of leaks then it's completely fine. In the higher rpm you might hear a roar because there is a good chance that you have a 5.9 litre v8. It's fun toasting ricer Hondas in a freakin van haha

Yes I have an 01 maxi, with the 5.9 360ci and drive 700 miles a week, 7 hrs a day in it and it makes the same sound your reffering too. Just keep an eye on your fluids and make sure the rear differential has sufficient gear dope in it. I've found that it's really nothing to worry about

I'm looking to get a wide cargo van with enough space to sleep width-wise. Would a twin-sized mattress fit horizontally in one of these 3500s? I'm about 5'10-5'11
@kevinswinyer31765 жыл бұрын
No, there are no current standard mattresses that will fit in the Dodge Ram 3500. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Long Wheel Base Van that I just finished converting into a Camper Van, and I wanted my bed to lay across the back from side to side, and was not able to find any mattresses in any size that would fit across from side to side. I ended up installing a Futon Couch Bed just inside the large rear door, and my kitchenette /cooking area is directly behind the Driver Seat, but when I do any cooking with either my Camp Stove, or my Grill/Griddle Combo, it will all be done outside the Van to prevent any kind of heat build up inside, which could lead to a fire. I have my 12 volt/120 volt Fridge up between the front bucket seats.

@@kevinswinyer3176 Were you able to arrange the futon sideways? How tall can one be and sleep sideways in the Dodge? Thanks!
@kevinswinyer31764 жыл бұрын
@ Tanner, if you build your Bed from side to side just inside the rear door of the Van, you should be able to lay, and sleep comfortably in that bed with little to no trouble at all. I'm 6 foot tall, and I have my current Bed built across the back of my Van just inside the rear door, and have no issues at all.
@Yodaismycopilot4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinswinyer3176 I'm a little over 5'9" so this sounds encouraging. Just curious: why you specified "just inside the rear door?" Is the width in that area of a Dodge 3500 Van somehow different from other areas of the van? I realize most people put a sideways bed towards the rear. And thank you kindly for your reply.
@kevinswinyer31764 жыл бұрын
@ Yodaismycopilot, to answer your question, no, when I had the futon in my Van, it was situated along the driver side of the Van, and left me no room to move around inside the Van, so I removed it, and located an Ikea Bed on craigslist for free, and used most of the frame work pieces from it, along with the Mattress from it, and built a much better bed just inside the rear door of my Van from side to side. I am 6 foot tall, and have no problem sleeping in my current bed. In fact, the way it's built, the head of the bed is actually angled up at a 45 degree angle so that I only need one decent pillow to sleep with instead of 2 or 3 on my bed at home.

Beautiful work
@Yodaismycopilot4 жыл бұрын
Is 6 feet the front-to-back measurement for the bed? With the 5 feet being side-to-side? Thanks.
@kevinswinyer31764 жыл бұрын
@ Yodaismycopilot, the length along the side of a Dodge 3500 series extended wheelbase Van is 8 feet, and the width juat inside the rear door is 5 foot, 8 inches. If you build a 6 foot bed in that space, one end of that bed will have about a 45 degree upward angle to it, that's where your head should be. On that angled end. You might still need to curl your lower legs in a tad, but it's definitely doable for me that way, and I'm 6 foot tall.
@Yodaismycopilot4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinswinyer3176 The person in the following linked video measures the cargo length at 142". See video at one-twenty in... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqXOkK1rrqhkobM
@kevinswinyer31764 жыл бұрын
@Yodaismycopilot, the Dimension you gave me is for a shorter wheelbase Van. My 3500 Extended Wheelbase Van has 8 feet of usable Space from just inside the rear door up to just behind the front bucket seats.
