Lovely storytelling and appreciate the referral of Christopher Isherwood and the plaque on the building. That's what's so amazing about the cities in Europe. There's a massive footprint of people and memories, that sometimes can feel like a cascading effect of an overflow of information regarding all that has come before ourselves. However the delight of being surrounded by history is knowing that lovely blanket should hopefully inspire our conduct for the better and not define our status and conduct. Hopefully we can continue to learn from all that has happened, and your videos are a good contribution for it.

It’s true, Europe is like a historical buffet-so much to savor! And I hope my videos serve as a tasty appetizer to all the fascinating stories waiting to be devoured! (now, I am hungry - again !)

Jack, you've got a great voice! It's rich and iconic. Right up there with some of the greats...like Sir David Attenborough. Really enjoy your videos!

Wonderful video and an excellent presentation of Berlin's roaring history. Look forward to part 2 unless there's a part 3 or beyond and then I'll need you to stamp my passport having visited Berlin vicariously. Love the song Lily Marlene! The old show gals new how to put on a great show and they were so risque for their time too. As an aviation nut I hope you visit the museum and See Concorde, the Tu-144 and all the other aircraft sitting on pedestals. Travel safe and happy walking or motoring.

To be quite honest, I could for for 10 parts. But I was only in town for a week. So after part two it will stop for this time - but I will be back because as they say in German "Ich habe noch einen Koffer in Berlin"

Howdy Jack!! You should do strip shows more often!! 😜🤪🤩 Family lore states that my maternal grandfather went to school with Marlene Dietrich. Big bear hugs from Kenny in Ohio USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'll be damned. Family connections to La Dietrich. that's only 2 degrees of separation then !!

@@jackvandean noooo condescending. I paid attention to this video and got some interesting 20's pop knowledge! ❤️❤️

Nice story telling Jack. I’ve heard there were some quite free-spirited people in Berlin at that time. I just think you expected too much from a Millennial… Hey, congrats on the legs, they are beautiful (the rest too).

Yes... some things I take for granted, people from a different generation just have no clue ... whereas the other way around - I am aware of Taylor Swift etc ...
