I think one of my biggest issues with this whole van life quirk bs is the fact that there's so many lack of boundaries here. Children need to learn how to develop independence and privacy. They aren't objects that are supposed to be cramped together like books. And if these parents are being intimate while they "sleep", thats just absolutely gross. How is it that they are "too little" to own their bed/space but grown enough to overhear the "nasty". Yuck!!!

Growing up my parents couldn't stay in one place, we went back and forth from Alabama (yep- the one and only) to idaho. I've lived in tents on the Snake River and various other areas, all 5 of us, in the snow at times, until Mom shook a rattle snake out of our bedding and refused to continue living in a tent. We've lived in 3 different school buses, one of which had "beds" for only 4, and me being the youngest/smallest, I got the privilege of spending my nights in the small camper bathtub, which wasn't too bad except for the faucet drip Dad never fixed, I just had to make sure i kept my feet pulled up, and another one i had a bunk bed that was so close to the ceiling the condensation from the temperature difference would bead up and drip on me at night if i didn't keep it wiped down, I actually fell off one night and hit my head on the kitchen table. We lived for a month in an old "ghost" town (abandoned mining town from back in the day) until a bear caught the scent of the scraps thrown out, he evicted us quick and in a hurry. When we were back in Bama we lived in a 3 room shotgun house, living room/ mom and dad's room, middle room was closets and two sets of bunk beds for all of us kids, and a kitchen. We had an outhouse in the back yard and bathed in a metal wash pot just big enough to sit in for the longest time until we moved up in the world and got a real toilet in the back porch and an actual bathtub in the kitchen, (I know, I know, we were spoiled at that point). We would stay one year there and one year back in Idaho and even though I would never allow my daughter to live like that, it was one helluva adventure and i wouldn't change it even if i could. I never even realized we were dirt poor, to me it was just fun. I didn't have a real bedroom until i was 15. These "homes" in these videos are outright fancy compared to anything I lived in growing up.

When I was a baby up until my teenage years, my parents and me traveled in our van for 2 months straight during the summer holidays. It was awesome. When I was 9 yo my little brother was born and we were 4 in the van lol. Honestly yeah sometimes it felt a bit tiny in there but I will never forget the memories in Spain, Italy and France! It's a very good experience if it's not all year long imo. But we had real transformable beds that my father built and not dog beds lol. When me and my little bro were toddler we slept in a bunk bed too, tho. I swear that it's not that bad. But my parents didn't film us to put on YT and I'm glad for it! We would have been uncomfortable if we were more than 2 kids in the van, too.

@@kochfeemiri663 No they don't. Of the families shown, only the one in the giant RV are full time. The rest of them only use the vans for vacations. And the giant RV was completely fine. It was a normal twin size bunk bed. The door is just to keep it tucked away and out of sight during the day. It's not like they lock the kids into it like a closet when they go to bed.

Van life could be fun and fine if it's a holiday or summer. The wrong comes when you do it all year round with homeschooling, constant moving and insecurity, it's not for raising kids.

I grew up camping. One camper we had, had cabinets that folded down and locked into a bunk bed twin size. It was really fun as a kid. Some campers are super sturdy and youd be surprised their bunk beds look really nice sometimes. I guess it seems normal to me since we had so many different campers. Started with a winnebago mini rv type of camper, pop up, a 15 ft coachmen and then slowly upgraded from there. No as an adult i miss campers and im too pampered to sleep in a tent

8:45 As a person who used to go on vacation a lot in a caravan and had a similar like bed, it honestly isn’t that bad and she said that her children are also toddlers so they need a bit less space (I was like 12 at the time). My bed used to be even smaller and I didn’t have room to sit up straight, but it was for only like 1 week every year. So no, I’m not saying that this is good because a normal bed is WAY better. Not to mention, these people LIVE there. I really hope that when they grow up they either stop this life or get them much bigger beds.

Honestly my brain hurts thinking about the million little skills & experiences that together create successful adults . It’s a heavy lift, even with the best circumstances.

Honestly, even if the kids had their own bedroom, this still isn’t a good situation for a developing child. I grew up moving a lot and I was homeschooled. I never had the stability of a home nor did I have that socialization that I needed so desperately. That lack of physical socializing(even with online friends) was so detrimental to my mental health, my social development, and my physical development. I love my family, and I don’t blame my parents for us moving, but god was it so isolating and lonely. I as a 9 year old decided I wouldn’t make any friends again after losing my neighborhood friend because I moved to a different state, so I can’t even imagine how lonely these kids are being constantly on the road like this

Honestly I don’t have a big issue with these kinds of sleeping arrangements-if it’s for a short holiday. That’s the thing; LIVING this way may work for some but I would wager it wouldn’t work for most children, and most children who DO live this way likely aren’t being given the choice.
