I’m also 66, well…in a couple of weeks. Living in a camper van . . . still finishing it out. And I also have no retirement. I injured my back badly in a car accident in 1977. Spent a lot of years working and trying to work while in pain. I never really made enough to invest. I finally applied for disability in 2017. After 4-1/2 years, I won my case and start receiving SSDI. I used most of my backpay to buy my van outright. I’m really needing to supplement my income and I’ve been thinking about starting a KZbin channel. Or some kind of online business. Perhaps a website combined with print on demand. Do y’all have any thoughts on me doing something like that at my age? I have pretty good computer skills.

I 100% stand by your view on retirement. I have always felt the same way! being someone that has been through something very traumatic, I am so hyper aware that we aren't promised tomorrow and it seems unreasonable to not live your life and do the things you love NOW. to me it scares me more to think I could die "before my time" and not have enjoyed, than it does to think of being older and having to still work.

#1. When the question was asked re: what are you going to do with your “free time” made me laugh a bit. I think you will be working hard to ensure food, warmth, and improvements are continually sustained for your family (the 4 of you). (What I’ve witnessed watching Linnea since beginning her home (vanbuild) is her inability to sit still if work is to be done.) Excited to see the shelter builds, etc. #2: Your man (Cris, wolf/part wolf or not) 😂 makes Linnea smile with goo goo, love in the eyes and she appears even more at peace with herself than I’ve witnessed over the last several awesome years of watching. 3: I’m 10 yrs from “retirement” and you hit the nail on the head!!! Don’t wait for tomorrow. I did. Tomorrow turned into months, months into years, and now over 2 decades have gone! (I wanted to live the nomad lifestyle before it was cool and accepted) My body is shot, all the activities I wanted to do are not possible due to my arthritis, being overweight, and feelings of being “stuck” in a work environment that doesn’t allow even pt remote work. Your KZbin videos bring me hope that it’s not too late. Lose weight, arthritis will dissipate and I may be able to get out there and explore with my pup! Until then, please know how inspiring you are and I’m super excited to see Chris and your growth. Sorry this was so long winded. Thank you for giving this nomad in heart hope. 😊

I think permanently having the 2 vehicles is really ideal because they are basically rooms in a house. Just like we wouldn’t want to live in a 1 room house, we’d like to have a home office to go work etc so you are doing that here. And I would say that the outdoors is another space you have to share, and it’s often changing allowing you to live in different spaces. Amazing!

I totally get and support your view on the 'deferred life plan'. I'm 66. I spent 30+ years 'investing' in retirement. 2008 happened and everything is gone and there were no jobs for people with my qualifications. I'd made too much money and no employer wanted to pay that much AND they felt I wouldn't be happy working for less money. All I own is my van which I'm currently building out (obtained with inheritance money) and a very small Social Security income. So yeah ,.. live for today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Live simple. Live good. Love this Q&A and this relationship. So cool.

You two look perfect together and its so nice seeing so much happiness. You all are exactly right too, you have to have trust in each other to have a good and solid relationship. I was fortunate to have married a man that trusts me 100% and I trust him. You are right where you say you can’t put someone in a cage - it just won’t work. We have been together for almost 25 years. On a side note, I told him if he didn’t like dogs, we couldn’t be together because I have had dogs (German Shepherds and Labs) my entire life. We have 5 GSD’s now🙄🤣You all are living your best life and doing it right❤️ Also, I love my Apple dohicky thingy🤣 I use it for potatoes too - deep frier and then do melted cheese on top (haha, I’m in the south and everything is fried🤦♀️🤣) Will you all be making your own breads too, while living off grid?

Re the dishes thing Linnea...not trying to change you or anything but sometimes all ot takes is a reframe to make a hated chore more palatable. In your case 1 a bigger sink might become a bigger dirty dish holder but be the grownup and use it as a more convenient vessel to get dishes in and out and wash them without bring cramped for space. 2 cant emphasize enough to focus on the warm soapy water....feels nice! And nice smelling soap. 3 music or podcast or conversation to distract. 4 run a bit of dishwater when you start cooking and wash as you go before the stuff sticks etc. 😚😘

This is one of my fav videos. Maybe it's the exchange with Chris or you sitting behind him with the knife daring him to say the wrong thing. But, yeah, the Q & A is much better this way instead of LIVE, cause the lag time puts off the natural flow of the video. I started at the beginning and am working my way to the more recent videos. If it's not covered in the North Woods videos, I'd sure like to know how you're keeping things (including the bus/van batteries) charged in the snow when you're not moving them.

Amen to your thoughts on retirement. My dad was healthy, but kil led at 62, about 4 months after he retired as a really well loved physician. He helped his community and kids and his church and he didn’t get what he deserved. All that said, he made time to vacation, hunt, hike, fish, camp and spend time with his family and whoever else wanted to join. Still bitter he didn’t get the twilight years, but he spend so much time doing what he wanted and a lot of people don’t do that. I say this guiltily because Netflix isn’t a hobby and for a lot of people we are just trying to get by. To get to tomorrow and the next day. Kudos to you and your infinite wisdom of just going and doing. I feel like whatever life hands you, retirement wise or other, you will absolutely land on your feet.

I love to cook also. And normally id rinse/clean as I was cooking. But now that I live in a camper in the back of my mom's property, I still rinse, but my sink is storage for my dirty dishes also. I have to boil water on my one little stove top burner. It sucks. My mom is getting older and takes care of her disabled brother, and works at a pediatric hospice and rescues, fosters and transports dogs. So she is very busy so I moved into the camper to be closer to her. I love living in the camper with my 2 big dogs and my elderly foster. I wish I could do what you do. I think you have the best of both worlds. I think it’s nice to be able to have some space in a relationship, to create some anticipation and appreciation, when you see each for date night 🤗 even if you do live next door to each other. Also, both of you keep your independence and identity, which is really important for a healthy relationship. I’m 65 now, and even if I fell madly in love head over heels, starstruck, found a gentleman that took my breath away. I would still keep my home for all the above reasons. From the beginning of my relationship and then marriage my husband and I a rule that whoever cooks doesn't do the dishes and it worked great. Granted his cooking skills included making scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon and toast. He could heat up things in a can or microwave something. I on the other hand love to cook usually from scratch using fresh foods or sometimes frozen. I love experimenting with different foods, herbs and spices to create the different layers and complexity of flavors while using different methods to cook it. One of my biggest achievements is that I have gotten him to eat vegetables and try new things. I also hide vegetables in sauces and various different types of meals I've made over the last 34 years.

I just want to say thank you for giving me a different look on life! I’ve always loved nature being outside/ exploring. Traveling the way that you do has been a dream of mine but I’ve always been handle back by traditional ways of living and expectations. I truly appreciate your honest opinions and the process of how you go through life with ups and downs. I’m extremely exited to start doing camping adventures with my 7 month old border collie River:) He loves hiking/swimming and rock climbing. I know you two have already had your north woods adventures but my favorite board games are clue, monopoly, uno, and just any simple card game. I wish you both the best in your journey and thank you for being such an inspiration to many. XOXO court & river

That knife is scaring me!! Watch out, Chris. 🤣 I totally get the stress of driving a big rig...mine's a 30ft Class A. After watching Linnea and the whole van lifestyle, it's looking better and better!

For games: get Blokus! It doesn’t take that much room. You’ve got 21 pieces each in one color (like Tetris pieces) and try to place them on the board while blocking the other player or players. There is a two person version or a four person version (that two people can also play if you take two colors each). So fun, easy to get started, and it’s different every time. The person with the least amount of pieces left wins.

Chinese checkers is fun, so is hop scotch, draughts, and pictonary. I enjoyed this Q & A, and I look forward to your adventures on The Land at winter
