Following Van Morrison for 40 years and listening to the soulful, poetry, the voice, the tantrums, the anger , the pain the disatisfaction, the love, the yearning. and so on and on. He is a very complicated artist with many layers. What can I say he is Irish and tough as nails. That is how he rolls. You can't change people you have to accept them just as they are. It's too late too stop now.

Oh so angry in this one, he must have his reasons why, that worried look upon his face, different than his usual grace - in presentation. We forgive this temperament - for his songs are heaven sent and there are no others like him. Play me a softer - kinder version when you scatter my ashes in the river that leads out to the sea. In the Derwent under the Hobart bridge.

I was at this concert and hearing this song live made if one of my favorites. His song writing and voice evoked strong visual images. I would not have guessed that 4 years later would begin a 5 album collaboration in that 5 albums from 79 to 1986 were recorded in my studio only a few miles away from Winterland, over the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito. Surely one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century. Few fans have heard all his recorded music, with so many albums. His personality was sometimes demanding, when something did not fit his desired outcome but overall sessions were relaxed, flowed and inventive. He wanted the 24 track 2 inch tape analog recorders running the whole time he was on the studio side of the control room glass so hundreds of reels were used, but the label allowed it and we billed them for the $100 reels. Everyone was proud to be working on those albums.

After Van goes off on the idiot yelling in the beginning, he seems to chill out a bit and enjoys singing this. "Into the Mystic" is one of his all time best. I always enjoyed his songs "Hungry for your Love", and "When Will I Ever Learn to Live in God". One of the all time best musicians ever!

This must be as close as Van Morrison wanted his composition to sound. I want this track to be played at my funeral. Going where no one can find me!
@missmomaleopard7 жыл бұрын
I'm a musician too-it's so horrible when people keep calling out for something especially when they are drunk sometimes they do it all the way through a tune you are playing perhaps something quiet and sensitive and they spoil it completely and put you off- you soon get very Pissed off with it. If a person is that bad I just get them removed - but whatever- they sure aren't going to get what they are calling for! I'm a jazz and blues person so they call out for all kinds of things. I wish they would imagine themselves standing there getting that- it's very disrespectful to a performer. I have sympathy for how Van feels and as a guy from Belfast he doesn't need to mince his words- hes not bothered what people think of him- and why should he be? Are you bothered about it all the time? You can't be controlled by other people- hes just himself!

I think the beat down of the guy yelling for a song is hilarious. Saw Van a few months ago, he doesn't engage the audience, he plays his heart out, he cares, he shows his appreciation for the fans by providing great music. That is enough for me.
