Van's undoubtedly the most impactful vocalist, songwriter and multi instrumentalist in the second half of the last century. And he's not even done.

This is so awesome starting out with the John Donne Poem and perfect segway Did Ye Get Healed. Only Van Morrison can wite create, sing, You either got it or you don't.

The one who dares to classify Van Morrison's songs would become insane!!! It would be like try classifying the stars on the firmament! Magnificent, excellent, superb, outstanding, awesome, stupendous, etc.!!!

Best "Rave On" in my opinion is on the 1987 "Rave On" Live performance, right here on KZbin

Right David . He likes changing the timing because he wants to keep it fresh for him and the band ; if you are pleased too , it is just lagniappe . He knows how fast he is going , and believe me , Pee Wee Ellis will keep any band in line for Vandal .

Well i dont know how good he is technically, but he has his own style. Like with everything he does.

@@franknberry6397 Same on the piano (I never knew he played)... mostly (all?) right hand, but definitely his own style. Only video I've seen him is Rockpalast 1982 playing "Scandinavia" (last song starts at 1.06.00) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX3QpIB8ibBlnNU

Inarticulate speech of the heart. Pure soul. Dont go to see Van of you want to hear the same as the record. Thanks for posting. I have enjoyed it very very very much:))

you are so correct , have all his early albums. Inarticulate for me is astounding, saw him live years later. and he had to sing Brown eyed girl/ the audience was so quiet, for me and them disappointed

I don't think the version of John Donne on the live Belfast album has ever been bettered. It doesn't segue into Healed as this one does but goes on for several minutes of rapture. This is good too though.
@acousticshadow40327 жыл бұрын
Subjective at best, but I know of a few other versions of "John Donne" that at least rival the Grand Opera House edition. Sept 20th of 1986 in Frankfurt is one of them. Find it on "Copycats Ripped Off My Soul".

I love VM...always have...always will....But I just can´t understand why the h.... He stresses through his songs in this way from time to time?????? Alright, everyone has ups and downs,,,,,and especially on the fields of subtleties where VM roams....But then again....When the whole deal builds on that presence....then It is also lost when not present.... I mean...Vm can make magic out of a single note....Every night can¨t be that kind of magic...But why ruin the songs by driving 120mph?

No. He’s actually slower and mellowed here- a bit different- who cares- that’s why I was smitten- an original Troubadour attendee - he didn’t speak- I didn’t care- never stopped listening- every release. Thx for this find ✌🏻☘️😂
