Custom Van Show at The 47th Van Nationals, 2019. 176 Vans in the van show and I was able (Before it ended or I was about to pass out) to film most but not all of the vans in the show.

In 1979 I had a 76 Chevy window van converted to panel van. Dad bought it new to haul amish around after he retired. He passed away before he had a chance to. I inherited it. Converted it. Drove my senior yr in HS. Partied in it for about 10 yrs till I traded for a Monte Carlo. I think more beer and women went through that than spring break. Not sure if its still exsists, but miss it now. Oh the memories.

My dad had an awesome conversion van inthe 80's which I destroyed by driving from NYc to FL and never checking the oil or a pre trip inspection. Engine and transmission were toast. He was never taught how to maintain a car and neither was I. He was so mad for 30 min but then brushed it off . Such a great dad.

I remember when I was a kid my dad had a metallic green van from the 70's, it had this cool psychedelic paint job and said Merry Mushroom Express across the back of it. I didn't understand what that meant until I become a teenager 🤣

Here in Melbourne, Australia back in the 70s and early 80s, we had our own custom van and car shows. I loved checking out all the cool way out vehicles. We loved our own unique muscle cars and vans. Even today, the business goes on. But it was better back then. It was a simpler time. More freedoms, less stress. Our custom cars and vans had a strong connection with the beach surfers life. Gotta love customized vans. I had a friens back in the day who have a 65/66 Chevy flat nose that was customized. Did alot of partying in that van. Girls always seemed to love them too. lol

Go Dodge shorties, loved the real old vans. My favorite was 73 Dodge shorty 318 four barrel automatic, no windows in back or side doors, sunset orange all carpet inside. Empty. They stuff in as needed. an empty box is the best box. Simple no goad. US mag wheels wide in back narrow tires in front. less traction but looked vantastic.

my husband had a job at the only full service gas station from lompoc to LA he pulled sunday duty alone he opened up went to check the restroom walked out and 450 vans pulled in for the california van club convention in LA they all got service and left he called his boss and asked should i close he said why ? my husband said well i sold all the gas already pumps empty 3 batteries 26 quarts of oil 5 sets of windshield wiper blades and the two soda machines are empty also .. he had only worked there 2 weeks this was his first sunday alone .. about 1982

I really do miss my 1986 Shorty Dodge van. I didn't like then and I still don't like vans with the portholes, graphics, etc. It had the 360 v8, dual exhaust and American Daisy style wheels. ...........I will always regret selling it.
