Hi everyone. Useful video, thankyou. I have an issue with the bottom bearings of my customised Mercedes Sprinter van conversion (only just won her unbelievably)! The door doesn’t stay open, so I place a rubber door wedge just on the bottom track bearing to keep the door lightly open (like a normal hung door I suppose). Unfortunately, I’ve subsequently shut the door with the rubber wedge on the bottom track still present and now my door is categorically jammed shut and will not open from inside/outside. Nor will it allow the van to be fully locked. Any advice on how to fix this ….. or does it need to be professionally removed ….. I’m gutted, yet to her on an adventure! Thanks in advance!

My question is how do I clean the latch and oil it? I’ve tried mass airflow sensor cleaner and multiple water based oils and silicone based oils and it gets so gunky and I can’t get it cleaned out. Some fresh oil helps it for a little bit but after a single day it’s gunky and rough again. The problem is I can’t open the door from the outside when it’s cruddy, only the inside.
@ExploreVanUK5 ай бұрын
Can’t say for sure as I don’t have that problem. but I’d start with some good quality degreaser and then use lithium lubricant rather than oil / grease.

I’m really struggling to find a left side sliding door locking latch (top one)in the UK for my iveco which is identical to this Ducato system. Think I’ll have to order from Poland.

I think the dealers were the best bet last time I heard. Around £50 for latch and pin.

Thanks for the tips. I have a question, do you have a hack to fill the gap between the two ends of the rubber seal?
@ExploreVanUK Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks glad it was useful. I’m not sure I know which seal you mean, could you describe it?
@derekfromtauranga6012 Жыл бұрын
Use RTV black silicone sealer and fill the gap. Don’t shut the door until it has fully cured. It’s just like rubber once cured. 😀

I’m afraid it’s a bit trial and error if it’s similar to ours you need to experiment with the 3 points of adjustment until you find the sweet spot.

THANKYOU, GREAT VIDEO!! I JUST BOUGHT A SMALL VAN TO CONVERT. UNDER ITS SLIDING DOOR IS A BIT WET AND RUSTY. ... COULD I ASK, WHEN I CLEAN IT WITH TOOTHBRUSH... SHOULD I USE SOMETHING LIKE WARM SLIGHTLY SOAPY WATER ON THE TOOTHBRUSH AND DRY THE WHO;E AREA AFTER.? OR DO I USE A DRY TOOTHBRUSH ON IT? THANKYOU!
@ExploreVanUK3 жыл бұрын
Great - glad it was useful. If it were me I would start off by making sure it was as dry as possible and then use a degreaser spray such as this amzn.to/3pIbJFq to give it a good clean and get any old lubricant off it. -Then give it a rub down with abrasive paper / wire wool / wire brush to get the rust off. -Then brush it down dry -You could then use a rust killing product and paint it or silicone spray. Hope that helps.

I have a 2010 toyota velfire van. It has two sliding doors on the side but only one can be opened with my fob. I'd like to use my fob to open the other door as well or even have it open on its on own from either the outside or inside handle. How can I do that? Can you help?

Anyone know about adjusting Mk1 Expert/Distpatch/Scudo/Jumpy doors? Mine doesn't seal properly at the front top any more so noisy and windy, but I've spent about an hour staring at it and can't see how to adjust the runners. There is a plastic locator, but if I adjust that too far it just snaps after a while, so I think I need to do something to the runners too. I guess I've been looking at the top, as that's where the gap, is but maybe I should check the bottom instead.
@ExploreVanUK3 жыл бұрын
I can't speak specifically for the Mk1 Expert/Distpatch/Scudo/Jumpy but definitely worth trying the other adjustments as I found moving the door out a little at the bottom (but still sealing) helped to make the top seal better. It was a bit of a balancing act. Hope you get it sorted.

@@ExploreVanUK Judging by your video it looks like the mechanism is _very_ similar on those slightly smaller vans. And mine is 23 years old now, so maybe my bearings are worn (it all seems to work fine apart from not squishing the rubber enough at the top front, on closure, and I'm kind of amazed that the hold-open detente works just as well as when it was new).

Hi where can I buy a bottom roller part for my Fiat Ducato 2004 2.3D?
@ExploreVanUK3 жыл бұрын
Ebay is my usual go to place - but check its the right one by comapring to what you have. This is a set of all 3 rollers for a pretty good price that appear to be for the right year (check you get the ones for the right side of door) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151965653903 Alternatively you could just get the rollers here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153013056228

@ExploreVanUK4 жыл бұрын
Try the maintenance steps in the video to give it the best chance. Where it’s difficult to close it’s often just that it is out of alignment somewhere. If the bearings are old / damaged changing them can make a lot of difference to how easy it is to move the door.

I have just bought an LDV V80 and the sliding doors are poorly adjusted. Your video confirmed my thoughts about adjusting the door at the various points. I guess you should always use a sharp pencil to draw around the catches etc before you start adjustment so you have a reference point to work from. As far as lubing the tracks is concerned there are dry lube spray on options that come to mind. Any wet lube is a magnet for dust and dirt accumulation so is not a sensible option really.
