The question has been asked by several people, so today I had my bike remapped with the programme for the US spec slip on's. The Bike ran fine with stock map, but I have to say that it is BETTER with the new map! Its lost just a slight touch of its a bit deep burble, which is more noticeable on overrun, however, throttle response seems 'snappier' the bike has a bit more urgency and as it warmed up it sounded more and more fantastic. So if you swap to these pipes, you can leave it be, it won't be a problem, but I can definitely recommend the remap. It's a quick and simple job, so if the dealer tries to charge too much for labour......go to another dealer.
@acerforge38828 жыл бұрын
The dealer told me that there is no different map for these silencers. The V&H map is for the sports complete system ( that's the high level one ), that's not to say it wouldn't make some difference with the silencers only.

Hey Tony, great video, thank you! Followed this to put the black V&H on my Street Cup. The only thing I did differently was flip the jubilee clips round so the screw head was on top, because I thought that looked a lot neater than the threaded part of the screw being visible. I didn’t seem to have that sleeve for the left side exhaust so no drilling out required (could be a small difference between the Twin and the Cup?) I also found getting the baffles out a ****ing nightmare, but that’s another story!! Haha. Masking tape round the inside edge stopped me from scratching the second exhaust anyway :) Thanks again!!

You can get away without the remap, but I had mine done with the Triumph 'off road' map ie the one issued for the high-level scrambler pipe (which obviously has no cat) and it made an improvement
@acerforge38828 жыл бұрын
The top hat on the left hand side is not supposed to go through the frame mounting hole. Its purpose is to limit the compression of the rubber mount while allowing the bolt to be fully tightened and not just nipped up as you suggest. The concept is exactly the same as the other two rubber mounts.
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Acer Forge Thanks I'll check it out, as mine must have been fitted wrong at the factory as I put it back in the same manner. Nevertheless the mount didn't reach to the front hole as it does on the stock silencer

Hello Tony. I just wanted to say that I've recently become a big fan. I should be getting my new Street Twin next week and I've been watching a lot of ST-related content on KZbin, a lot of which are yours. Yours have been top-notch in terms of video and sound quality, and information and details. Very generous of you. Please keep up the great work you're doing. By the way, I too have asked for a pair of the US spec V&H slip ons. Do you think I should get it installed after the initial break-in period, when I bring the bike in for the first service? Or is it ok to get them installed (and remapping done?) before I take delivery? Thanks.
@mancavemoto7 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, thanks for your kind words. I started doing this as i went along as there was no other content on KZbin. Glad its been helpful for people and well received. I would say that there no reason why you shouldn't have them installed from the 'get go'. You might as well get that beautiful sound straightaway :)
@nickthiru7 жыл бұрын
Views from the Man Cave Thanks for the feedback, Steve; I will ask them to install it right away. There is an additional concern, and that is whether or not I should request a remap (due to no baffles). Below, you mentioned that a remap isn't essential, although it is recommended. The only slight drawback to a remap, I think you said, is loosing a little bit of that deepness of the sound, which is something I loved about the V&H. Also, I MAY get an x-pipe installed as well, after the break-in. In this case, I WILL need to remap. But I'm just not sure yet if I want the x-pipe. I'm afraid it may change the sound coming out of the V&H. Will it? Or does it just increase the volume (apart from improving performance)? Cheers Steve! [There is a video of yours with the freespirits x-pipe and another comparing the stock, E V&H, and US V&H. It would be cool if you could record the x-pipe just the same and it to the latter, comparison video as well :-)]
@mancavemoto7 жыл бұрын
Nick Thiru If you fit an xpipe then definitely have the remap. If just fitting the v&h, even without the baffles then the remap is less relevant. The two videos you mention were filmed with exactly the same equipment and set up, so between them give the sound difference for all the variations. Excluding the 2into1 high level pipe of course

Thanks for the video. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts. My Street Twin has been having issues when coming to a stop, I pull the clutch in the revs will just drop to basically nothing before they suddenly catch up to idle again, sometimes it'll stall entirely. It has V&H pipes (came with the bike). I've had it at different garages and they're unable to find any problems, neither can I, but one of the mechanics suggested it may be my pipes causing the issue. As far as I know it wasn't remapped, I got it 2nd hand though so can't confirm. Is it possible the V&H (open US spec) pipes could cause something like that? Bike runs mostly fine otherwise though some days it will conk out after I start it up. Again, no issues have been found to date (fuels good, airs good, sparks are good, no engine lights or error codes, no vacuum leaks, sensors are seemingly OK).

Said that, do you advise to change also the "air filter" and to check the mapping at the 'engine control unit'? On the Internet, seems this procedure is recommended, to let the engine breath more after the replacement of the stock exhaust with one without the cat. I see one available for SS produced by K&S, on British Customs website... Thanks! G
@mancavemoto6 жыл бұрын
It's really down to you, if you just change the exhaust, there is really no need to do anything else. There is a map specifically for that exhaust (which is the map I had installed) which does help. I didn't worry about the intake side, as I don't think it makes too much difference to performance really. I only installed the xpipe and v&h pipes for the sound. Although I have a video coming up when i install the 2:1 hi level system
