The Parade of Nations reminded me to a brazilian television show during the 80's to 00's when the pompons were part of our culture.For canadians search about Xou da Xuxa and Domingo no Parque.

The Governor General said it was a first for Canada to host the paralympics, but it's actually the second. First being in Toronto in the 70s

Toronto is in Canada. So I think what they said was true. Canada was the first to host the Paralympics in the 70’s.

First Winter Paralympics for Canada. Calgary didn't host in 1988 because they didn't have the infrastructure, so it was hosted instead by Innsbruck. It wasn't until 1992 that the chosen Olympic host city was required to also be able to host the Paralympics. Thus, Vancouver is the first Canadian host city to host both the Olympics and Paralympics simultaneously.
