Thanks for posting. My favourite hockey game all time. Back when you had to be tuff to play hockey. You literally had to fight for every loose puck and every scoring chance. This was the game I fell in love with and unfortunately they changed it. Half the guys in the NHL now wouldn’t have lasted training camp back then. It’s the reason why Canadians don’t dominate the NHL anymore.

wow what a game.. amazing days for canuck fans. good hockey against perhaps the canucks most passionate and intense rival. i think peplinski called this game wearing his old uniform..

So this was a game 7 and ESPN did not cover the game themselves? They could only throw it to the HNIC broadcast? By 1994, I would have thought they would have had full coverage of any game 7s that popped up.

They had covered Game 7 of San Jose-Detroit that same night and they clearly felt the US audience was interested in seeing only that.

@@epaddon well that was a big upset in the making so that's kind of understandable. I also realized even into the 2000s there were instances where a game 7, esp by 2 Canadian teams was given the CBC simulcast treatment by ESPN. So this prob wasn't as unusual as I thought.

if this type of game was played today the refs would being getting chapped lips from blowing the whistle for penalties .............but this kind of gritty game is missing from todays soft nhl

That's why I stopped watching hockey, too inconsistent. They call penalties all season long, and a team like Vancouver thrived on the power play...and they drew a lot of penalties. Then all of a sudden, say in 2011 in the finals against Boston the refs ''put the whistle away'' and ''just let them play'' well wtf? you call something a penalty all year you better call it in game 7 of the finals...that's part of the game. Teams like the Canucks depended on their Power Play...but no we'll just all of a sudden call it differently because it's the playoffs. A joke.
