You know Nipper the dog was the symbol of Victor Company of Japan, circa 1927. Manufacturer of the Victrola record player. Aka JVC where I worked in the 70s 80s.

I was at Neptoon Record's former Vancouver location (Fraser near 41st), in the 90s, picking up a pressing of Mark Lindsay's "Arizona".... Here's a lyric 4U Mazzie: "She must belong to San Francisco...." Anyway, as I am paying for the LP at the counter Rob tells me that one day Mark Lindsay walked into the store, checked out his band's records, and walked out. He of Paul Revere and the Raiders fame (later just "The Raiders"). Their biggest hits were: "Arizona" (1969, Billboard #10); "Silver Bird" (1970, Billboard #25); ); "Miss America" ( May 1970, Billboard #44) and "Indian Reservation" (July 1971, Billboard #1). Of course, back then without Wikipedia and Google it was hard to keep track of Paul Revere and the Raiders, Mark Lindsay and The Raiders, as all being more or less the same bunch of guys. I was 12 years old and living in Brighton, New York, when "Miss America" came out and I was hooked. I guess it was the Wrecking Crew performing in studio that hooked me. Love That Sound!

By me most stores are closed Mon and Tues or Sun and Mon. They also tend to close early and take odd lunch hours. I have been disappointed numerous times.

Did you know Red Cat Records is named after the cat from My Name is Buddy album by Ry Cooder. I think the whole story is on their website

Mazzy! Why are you not in major motion pictures?! The master of improv. Good to have you in hometown Vancouver. The town had some soul for the weekend👍🏼🎶

Had only seen Nardwuar’s classic interviews with Henry Rollins.. just saw his infamous encounter with Blur. Always thought they were knobs but fully confirmed now. Am surprised they had a career after that!

I live 40 min out of Vancouver. The owner of Neptoon seems nice with TV, radio or famous people, but when an average Joe asks him a question, he treats you a bit like a fly buzzing around him. Too bad. Prices are a bit steep there too, though you can find some rarities occasionally

I go to Neptoon quite often and I don't find this to be the case at all in my experience. Ben and Rob are always really nice when I go there.

@@vinylrichie007 The Mazz trying to match the improv but slighty off-balance coping with his new friend, yet still gamely being spontaneous, pushed to the top of his game to keep up and he produced a winner. It could easily be a Woody Allen movie moment, V-R.
