This is my favorite urban transport system in the world. I'm fascinated by how well Translink has done with the service as a whole. It's clean, reliable, efficient, and frequent. The technology is amazing and is much more cost effective than an underground subway, plus as a bonus, you actually get a bit of scenery. It isn't much of a visual obstruction either. Many cities should take note.

Also the new Bombardier Mark III trains look so nice and sleek. That and the blue and grey paint make the system look wonderful.

They plan to develop something similar in Montreal (our "Métro" is saturated actually). Honestly I am little bit scared about this system (still pretty ugly).

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, and can say that Vancouver has a much better transit system than we do here in Edmonton.... It was smart to build a train system above the city where it doesn't interfere with city traffic like you experience all the time in Edmonton. It drives me nuts. There are some parts underground but it's not like Vancouver. I miss the SkyTrain. How you can take it from the airport, and how it even connects you to different cities in Metro Vancouver.

Yep. Completely automate BART. And also create some physical barriers that will make people less enticed to push other people around and to keep them from getting off the platform and onto the track. And of course, to have a control command center that allows the technicians to control the cars, the functions, including the amount of power that is used to keep the tracks in operation. We really don't need driverless cars. We want driverless trains, running on autopilot so there would be no need for a train operators present. Of course they could be served as technicians or bus drivers as well.

I’m curious. Why did translink now run the white mark 2’s in 2 car consists and not 4 and the mark 1’s in 6 car consists??

On the Millennium line it was decided to run them in 2-car formation to run the trains more frequently. With new trains arriving, they'll soon be able to go to four-car operation. The Mk1s haven't run on the Millennium Line since the Evergreen extension opened, except as test trains. The Expo line hasn't run two-car Mk2s since before the Olympics, except for shuttle services during station rebuilding work at Main Street.

These automative trains are safer than, let's say, CAL train, Amtrak and uh, BART. And yes I can imagine Willie Nelson singing his signature SkyTrain every time I see this video. Maybe when I come back to visit Vancouver, I can just get a ride in these trains instead of going in a cab. And with no operator singing "All aboard the SkyTrain", there is nothing more thrilling to find out that the train is completely operated by computer and of course, the technicians who are always constantly monitoring the entire system. I think BART should remove the train operators and to also implement a system that seems to work very well with the system that the city of Vancouver uses. I like BART, but I love these trains better because they are cleaner, user friendly, and very comfortable in ambiance. And they go forward AND backward. And the operator doesn't have to turn on and off the train, because the city, along with the computer, in fact does everything itself.

The blue SkyTrain sets are only allocated to the Expo line depot at present. Most of the white ones were allocated to the depot on the Evergreen extension. Eventually there will be blue sets in regular use on both lines.

Millennium Line operating "wrong-line" at Lougheed? What does that mean?

Edited the description somewhat, which hopefully better explains it. Starting in June 2018, Millennium Line trains to Coquitlam will use Platform 1. Millennium trains to VCC and Expo trains to Production Way will use Platform 3 and 2 respectively. This rectifies the current 'running wrong line' situation where trains operate on the left track as opposed to the right track.
