If you don't cut a hole out of the front section to pull out the handle for the trap, you're going to be removing that front section to do so David. Also, when going round right hand bends don't be surprised if the toilet comes sliding out 😲 My door has a little lock and it still tries to burst it open on the odd occasion. It may be best to add a couple of slide bolts at the rear half way down just in case. Anyway just a suggestion. You have done a good job all the same 👍
@Vandemonium
@Vandemonium 3 жыл бұрын
Dang it, I entirely forgot about the pull handle!! I imagine one might well remove the panel to use to loo anyway, so that solves that. As for corners, I’d imagined it would stay in place as the friction is fairly decent to the floor, notwithstanding me pulling it about in the video but I’ll certainly bow to your experience on that and add something appropriate - thanks!

With anchoring things down in the car or truck, I'm far less concerned about how everything will stay put during normal circumstances, and more concerned with making sure everything stays put during an accident or emergency maneuvers. Last thing you want after some git cuts you off is to have a shovel, fire extinguisher, or half full portable loo flying around the cab too.

I've found some flat rubber stick on strips provide a good amount of friction to keep stuff from easily sliding around if whatever you don't want to move has a little bit of weight

David, big fan here from Ohio. I'm 65 and retired. I have been bingeing your vlogs on both channels for over a month. Today, I finished both channels. You have given me much joy. Now I am lost. I need to find my next fascination on KZbin, something completely different from English narrowboating and van conversion. I will continue to look forward to occasional updates on both channels. Thanks

I am so impressed that you manage to work in a tight place, all scrunched up on your knees, bareley able to see for yourself what it is that you are doing, AND manage to set up a camera and film it all at the same time. I would find the job alone so much hassle. Your observation that a 'simple job' can take days to complete is also very true. You have my admiration, Sir!

I too am perplexed as to why these jobs take so long, especially when a prompt start is planned. When discussing this with my wife she will politely suggest's that starting the job half way through the day might be a factor. I mentioned that I don't feed ducks or anything like that whereby she reminded me of all the KZbin clips Iv watched since breakfast and some about Loos in campers.........which we also don't have.....

@michaelhickman3790

to save yourself having to draw round them each time, you will notice that the little metal plates on the magnetic catches have small protrusions above and below the screw hole. All you need to do is put them in place on the magnets, then offer up the wooden panel and give it a slight tap from behind. The metal plate then leaves two little indents in the wood, showing you where to fasten it to. When you have put together as many kitchen cabinets as I have, any little thing to make the job quicker and easier is welcome.

Great work as always sir! My tips here for you would be to make a simple wooden jig for your circular saw so you can always cut nice straight lines with it. Trying to cut straight is almost impossible otherwise. Aside from that when you mention having to wait for glue to dry a lot - I would generally glue and screw or at least glue and tack so that you can carry on working around those areas without worrying about clamps getting in the way or disturbing the work. For a simple jig, search on YT for "2 DIFFERENT JIGS FOR THE CIRCULAR SAW". The first one is enough for most jobs.

"I'm very pleased with this!" - And so you should be! (Might want to add a little cleat on the floor where the toilet slides out so it doesn't join you in the van during a fast right hand bend - from experience, a loose porta-potty isn't a good travelling companion.) I hadn't realised before, but you've got the same flooring in your van as we have.
