On the second episode of The Choice, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, presidential historian, and Vanderbilt professor Jon Meacham and polling expert, political scientist, and Vanderbilt professor John Geer take stock of the race as the country enters the last five weeks of the campaign, assessing both where the campaign stands and what “October surprises” may lie ahead. They also stressed the importance of taking an evidence-based approach to the election and how stressing of evidence over ideology has been attacked by some as being partisan-am ironic and troubling twist. This is a recent development in American politics and underscores the high stakes of the 2024 election.
