Quick question: I have been able to get the high b flat out by slurring up to it, but not on its own. Will that come once I’ve practiced slurring it more, or am I doing something wrong?

Sorry for the delay, a student of mine just emailed me to say I had a question on KZbin and I always try to be helpful:-) In general I have found that slurring up is harder so that’s great actually! You can also try skipping Bb and “squawking” up high and slur down, which is also generally easier. My observation about the “isolated” pitch is if “we” aren’t having success your voicing (or oral cavity) moves because we are frustrated. I often tell my students “pretend” like you can take a picture of your tongue, throat, etc and try to land that picture every time. With time, and patience, you will gain consistency.
