Man, that videos was soooo helpful. I just started with the tourist season and was already completly confused about how the needs percentages are calculated and if you really need 100% everywhere. Initially I thought you could sprinkle hotspots everywhere and have a nice looking island. but after the release and not reaching 100% at anything I started to cluster them up and things started to look weird. Thank you for clarifing how those things work => back to beauty building :D

THanks for the video, Taka! I was concerned a the first part of the video. lol. But if it really doesnt matter too much getting max then I won't worry about it. I'll plan a big cntral tourist area with hotels and hotspots :D

If you're going for a super efficient build you'll probably have all the hotels clumped together right next to a 300+ museum, zoo, and garden anyway.

I was wondering if it would be best to have a tourist district located in the middle of your city with all your zoo & museums built around it.

That's one way of doing it yes... What I'm planning on doing is having multiple small hotspot clusters. A museum, zoo, and a garden with minimum 300 attractiveness and then the cafe and bar and restaurants nearby with a few hotels. I would spread these clusters around my city so it's not one giant clumped up monstrosity and I can specialize each section.. maybe an Enbesan hotspot and all of the services provide recipes from that region!

There are some town hall people who can provide a -100% need for that variety theater, so in a pinch if getting the 'best' placement for buses is . . . driving you bonkers, throw in one of those persons and to hell with the variety theater need for that hall's radius! ;)

Oh boy, I'm so behind with the game, I started a new city, even added the pirates (lol followed your advice to keep on bribing them) docklands have been so helpful with the needs, and I got a bruno from a quest I think very early on in the game, which helped a LOT. I've gone to crownfalls starting outlining the city but have yet to do much at all lol. with tourists what's your suggestion as to when to start implementing them, what should I have before bringing them in? for example I have few investors so far in Old world, but no world fair yet. should I wait until I expand to the other regions(I have all DLCs) or it's okay to start with just old world/crownfalls and new world?

just got this dlc so confusing didnt know the zoo haad to be close to this as wel as the trading docks which isnt going to happen at this rate.

I think you missed a part of the video... The tourist mooring and any building that is considered a monument such as Docklands or the palace don't have to be with any particular distance. Only cultural buildings like zoos and museums, food and drink venues and the variety theater have to be within a certain distance.

if i build the hotel next to tourist spot do i still need bus stop or the tourist can just walk

No.. bus stops have a ring radius around them and anything within that ring is affected by that bus stop and connected to the network. You don't have to have a bus stop for every single building

I hope people not being able to grasp the system does not spell doom for otherwise good DLC. I hope they do not nerf this into another Docklands level of simplicity.

Hope they change the logic of bus stop. My zoo is on one side of crown falls while my tourist pier is on other side. No way I can reach there by extending range 2 tiles at a time. :(

Tourist mooring does not matter as it has infinite range... you can build your hotels as far from it as you want.

It is about the distance between the hotel to the hotspot, not the distance from the public mooring. Build a hotel near your Zoo.

That was exactly my initial response to the 'divide-by-2' rule. From a programmer's view it just seems like a super complicated way of calculating the bus stop coverage. The game is already CPU intensive, why add such a complication to the coverage calculations? The more bus stops you add to an island the more tangled and complex the web gets, and thus also the calculations. I wish Anno was open source so that I could look at the code myself. I really want to know how Ubisoft manages to write the code for such a huge and complex simulation. :-D
