But if Kobe had been inducted during the 2019 off-season just like he should have, she wouldn’t have had to give this speech on his behalf and it would have made literally no difference. At least he would have made it to the third anniversary of his final game without ever even hinting at coming out of retirement.

So, therefore when all these prayers thru out all of time for “safe journey, safe travel , safe trip, safe return” etc etc etc can’t overcome mistakes, errors, accidents. I see. Ur comment was stupid & pointless. If ur god believing which it appears u must be. It doesn’t change the truth of my statement that if there’s a god/lord he watches ...... has knowledge of etc etc, of that helicopter going down and did nothing about it ........ planes being hijacked & flown into the Twin Towers and did nothing .......... children being born everyday with cancers or other horrible diseases / children starving to death in Africa or other impoverished counties and does nothing. She's the prime example of poise, elegance and grace in the face of grief. Her fate, as unfortunate as it is, didn't make her budge. Ever since this horror unfolded, Vanessa displayed nothing more but gracefulness and dignity. Being a widower/widow that young is horrific and I can't even believe how it feels like to outlive a child even though I have friends and family members who went through both. My father outlived two kids. A friend of mine outlived his wife (who was a childhood friend of mine, she died from sepsis at 30) and third child at 31 last month. And they have that grace in common. Her sorrow may be palpable in her eyes but her will to live is as powerful. She has more courage that I'll ever have.

i really hate all the people out there who's hating on vanessa. she literally stood by her man through everything. she could've taken the kids and his money and left him, but she didn't. yet people are out there saying all kinds of things about how she's money hungry, cares more about money and fame than she did her sweet child and husband. its absolutely heartless. she's so strong, and she's doing so good for her other girls, and on top of that, she's trying to do her best for kobe´s legacy -- this speech was amazing, she did so good imo. as far as i know, she has mostly been in the background and kobe´s been the public speaker in that relationship.

Her speech was powerful and she is a strong woman! However, I got to admit, as a 30 year old man, My life has never been the same since his passing. He is my idol and I became his biggest fan 21 years ago and even got the chance to met him in Germany 7 years ago while he was here for surgery. How cool is that guys? Meeting your idol, who lives 7000 miles away in the US, from LA to Cologne, Germany. Kobe will forever be my idol but my life will never be the same. You will be missed. From a Basketball Career Standpoint, what more can you ask for? You idolized a player since you're a kid In your first matchup, you immediately got your idol's respect that he rarely gives to anyone else The comparison between you and your idol was immediately validated and well deserved. You got close to your idol personally Gave you some advice about the game, about everything. When you retired, you accomplished many things that not all players can achieve. Young players respected and looked up to you as their idol and a great mentor When you died, your idol sincerely did the Eulogy for you And finally, It's your idol who inducted you to the Hall Of Fame Enshrinement. What a complete Basketball Career but a very sad way to be gone from this planet. But still, you will be remembered by everyone you left, forever. RIP Black Mamba

When they say that women are the strongest beings in the universe well its true. Vanessa's courage and strengths keep me going every single day in my life. Seven years ago, I lost my mother to stage IV breast cancer. It was the hardest thing I had to experience, then I lost my grandfather who was also a father figure to me 9 months after that. Well reality hit me hard. It affected my school, my life and everything else. At some point, I did not know what to do with my life because I was so lost, until I started to read Kobe quotes. These quotes are still my go to. I have a notebook full of them. Whenever I feel giving up on certain things I start repeating them one by one. When I learned that Kobe died with his daughter I was devastated and feel for his other daughters and his wife. I know what it feels like to lose parents. May God continue to give Vanessa strengths to endure those hard moments. God bless you Vanessa and your girls.

I take it you've never lost a loved one before. It's only been a year. Of course she's "still" hurting. She lost her husband and her daughter on the same day. She will be mourning their loss for the rest of her life. The pain has just begun. A year can go by feeling like a month after such a devastating tragedy. She will never heal from this. EVER. But years down the road the pain might become tolerable.

@@simazenji4025 Sorry for your losses. My point was, of course she's still hurting. It takes much longer than a year to heal from loss, nevermind losing a life partner and child. Some people can never heal from that. I'm one of them.

I watched Kobe score 81 points when I made it home from Iraq in 2006- my son was then born on the same day 4 years later... powerful day for me, powerful being that gave me confidence when I had none as a child. Thank you Kobe. He is missed. Her eyes tell the truth. God keep her.

Just imagining Kobe standing there and doing the speech puts a tear in my eyes. No matter how much you love him, respect him, or even hate him, the one thing to learn from him is to never half ass it. If it's worth it, give it your all. Make it a priority. Find time. Work hard and always bet on yourself. Thank you Kobe. #Mamba4Life
