Yes, he is. I know this because I googled him and there was a photo of him sitting with his dad, (Laurence) and Jon Avnet. Apparently Jon and Laurence worked together in his film, Have a Little Faith and that may be where he met or how he knows Langston (the guy playing Malcolm). Jon Avnet also said on the Bts today that he get his "friends" to come and act on these videos for free. I guess it is still highly cutting edge and experimental and an exciting project for actors.

I agree. I am Team Jan all the way. She is natural, unpretentious, and a very good friend to Vanessa, even though V hardly deserves it. V is very jealous of Jan and can't help slipping little digs into the conversation to try and make her feel guilty because all the guys are drawn to her. It really bothered me when Ed said to V.that Jan liked her very much and thought they would be a good fit. V just said, 'yeah, she's great.' Feint praise. Jan, on the other hand, really tried to sell him on V.

Jan is more comfortable with herself and has a calm persona that seems confident which is more attractive than talking as much as Vanessa who speaks in a fake enthusiasm. Genuine wins.

I would have said something like "Vanessa, you don't need to go to these kinds of things to meet the man of your dreams. You're a beautiful woman who needs to be more confident in who she is. You're not a ticking bomb, the right guy will find you and you will find him, and there is no rush into a relationship. Speed-dating limits you greatly in the choices you have. Just put yourself out there in the actual world around you. Be yourself."

Hah! That's funny. Yep! Actually in the first episode, something like that almost happened when Jan was talking to Ed. After he asked her to think about going to see the rocket launch, there was a pregnant pause and she immediately blurted out a question. I think she asked him how he got into rocket science or something.

In the Rime of the Ancient Mariner the sailor shot the albatross which was a symbol of good luck and was forced to carry it around his neck. In the poem, he keeps telling the tale to anyone who will listen. In the same way, this girl, Cara is like an albatross around the neck of Zevin. I also think that the two girls shared notes when they were in the bathroom, so Jan got the scoop on him from Vanessa and then he repeated the same exact story to Jan....

Great episode! Vanessa (grrrrr!) is quite the manipulator and everything is going to backfire on her. Jan just can't do anything right in her book. She is way too selfish and desperate and jealous of Jan. Jan is doing her best to support her, but Vanessa can't appreciate it because she is way too controlling. I predict that all the guys, especially Malcolm, are going to try to get together with Jan after this is over, and Vanessa will then blame it on Jan. What a snit!

I would tell her to be herself!! If someone thinks you are too eager or too this or TOO that they aren't worth her time, or my time for that matter! :) If you are being yourself, then you are being true, and the right one will come along.

Ok, I just googled it. Apparently it is a military term which means to assassinate. It was used in the film, Apocalypse Now when they were sent on the mission to kill Col. Kurtz, the crazy guy played by Marlon Brando who became a renegade. They meant to go after him purposefully and determinedly and wipe him out. In the Jan series, Vanessa also threatened Robbie in a similar manner if he ever told Jan that they had sex. She said something like she would kill him, slowly, limb by limb or such.

She is completely trying to simultaneously get Jan to me her "wing man" and yet keep all the men from falling for her. The way she accused Jan of attracting the men and them being all doe eyed around her. That was really catty.

hmmm, not sure our opinions on love are that different, especially if you also feel that love is complicated and transcends logic. Yes, I imagine you are right, both Robbie and Vanessa are high maintenance, so I agree there as well AND yes, Jan is way more preferable to Vanessa. I don't really see her as a free spirit either. She is a slave to her lust, actually, and as a result has to deal with jealousy, disappointment, competition and anger. Not free at all.

Definitely not a bad thing. She is just way more reserved, whereas Vanessa is IN YOUR FACE. It's fine to be outgoing and bubbly, but mixed in with desperation, I can understand how it can turn men away. Some people are mistaking Jan's reserved nature to be that she is ignoring the men she is talking to. Not true. She just isn't all over them like Vanessa. Besides, she didn't go there to meet people, but to support her friend it has been revealed. But she has not been unduly rude to anyone.

I think it's just that she has a connection with Robbie and it transcends logic. Isn't that the way love works? I don't think it's that she has a history of taking care of other people's problems and not her own, and all we know is that the love she shares with Robbie is in her blood and while one side is telling her that if she stays with him she'll go down with the ship but the other side is her heart and somehow he remains there indelibly. That's why she has no interest in these other men.

I don't know if legally these actors can work for nothing, if they carry sag cards they at least have to receive 'scale', a sort of token payment, that actors receive, for instance when they do guest appearances on talk shows etc. But many actors, if they like a project or a person producing or directing it, will work for scale, just for the opportunity to work with them. In the case of these lesser known actors, they may also really like the exposure.

I agree that she doesn't give a lot of information about herself, so she comes off elusive. But I don't think she is "uninterested in anything anyone says." She got quite involved in several of the conversations, she just doesn't seem to like to talk about herself much. Vanessa, meanwhile can't take the topic off of herself. It's like she's saying, "Ok, enough about me, let's talk about you, how do you feel about me?" She is hopelessly needy and comes off desperate, and that puts the men off.

I have to assume that Vanessa is starting to look for more than "cheap thrills" (i.e. impersonal sex) and actually would like a relationship that is about more than sex, and can actually last longer than the "infatuation period". Jan says and acts out that she is doing it all for Vanessa, not really looking herself; I can't be certain about her full motives - she may just feel there is no chance she could meet "Mr. Right" this way, but may have a small glimmer of hope. Not enough info to tell.

It's hard to say what Vanessa wants. She seems to have a history of cheap thrills, is focusing on how horny she is and does not speak of finding a steady boyfriend. Jan on the other hand is not looking at all. She is focused on what texts are coming in from Robbie and is just along to give Vanessa some moral support.They keep dropping clues about her mother too, so I think there will be some big reveals about Robbie,her mother and their relationship with each other, and that guy she met in Ep 14

And the same hostess lady is there that facilitated Christine's speed dating session, and she said that all the people were hand picked by her and they paid her lots of money to get introduced to people who were beautiful inside and out. In that case, how did the low hanging fruit guy get in there?

I like Jan more than Vanessa? Vanessa is very pretty but she seems pretty selfish and insecure. She wants all these men but she tries way too hard and comes across as desperate. She gets jealous of Jan when she gets attention but Jan doesn't like too much attention. She wants Jan to come with her but then gets upset when Jan actually participates.
