OMG!!! I was so crazy about her as a young girl. The first Black Miss America!!!! I had EVERY Magazine I could find with her in it after she won. She won in September 1983. I was in the 9th grade. That following February 1984, I had a Black History project (that included a paper and poster board) and I couldn't decide on whom to do my project. My mother suggested Vanessa Williams. I was excited. But then I asked my mother what exactly was I supposed to use for my poster board. She was like, "Girl, all of those magazines and newspaper articles you have!" I said, "I ain't cutting up MY stuff for no school project!!!" Anyway, I did cut up MY stuff, and I received a great grade on it. My teacher was impressed that I thought outside of the box of the usuals; Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman, etc. HOWEVER, she REFUSED to give me back my poster board!!!! I'm 54 and STILL mad about that!

You do realize she is a former Miss America, and they tried to destroy her because of some nude photos were released, but that didn’t stop her. That’s where her music career began, which was very successful. She’s not putting out music much now, for the past 30 years she’s also been a successful actress, but she’s still performing and she sounds great live.

She was a former Miss America winner, but after it was discovered she posed for Playboy, she was stripped her of her title, and was blacklisted in Hollywood, but she wasn't one to go down without a fight. She came back with a great career as a great a singer,phenomenon actress, and just happened to be one of the most beautiful people on the planet.👍

She didn't "pose for Playboy." She posed for a photographer who did nudes when she was a starving student and he sold them to Penthouse without her permission after telling her that they would remain private! Then "they" stripped her of her Miss America title. That's how Satan traps people (especially believers) and how GOD REDEEMS PEOPLE IN SATAN'S FACE! Not quite correct. Early in her career, she posed for test nudes which were to have been presented only in silhouette. Williams was later crowned Miss America, completed over 4/5ths of her reign and relinquished her title after Penthouse purchased and published the photos. We all know what began to happen just a few years after the photos debacle: success!

man i miss this time in music. songs were very, very sensual without being sexual. music has largely lost that in modern times. but that perimeter between 1986 to 1996-97 was a great time for romantic sentiment in music. it is a lost art now.
