She's was nominated, the other nominees were heavy weights (hard to say she was cheated): Janet Jackson, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Anita Baker won for Giving You the Best that I Got.

@@damienwilliams5214 Nope and just to clarify; Vanessa lost her soul train music award; Best Urban Single/Female to the very boring and dull sleep fest; Anita Baker"s; "giving you the best that I got" Whitey Houston got booed within the same category. As far as the Grammy awards; she ws nom for two Awards from this album; Best New Artist of the year and best R&B vocal performance for her hit "Dreamin", and lost both to Tracy Chapman's nappy headed ass (fast car) I'm certain it was a win for VANESSA, considering all she was Up against coming fresh off the Ms.America scandal in which she made History. A huge win, especially for black women a that particular time.

Her 1st publishing deal, "Girlfriend" went to Pebbles, "My Perogative" went to Bobby Brown, School daze went to Tisha Campbell. The music Industry basically turnt on her man. Vanessa Lynn Williams will celebrate her 57th birthday come next March 18th, 2020...
