Do you own a F10 Helium tent @ amzn.to/2TWDtrJ ? Or maybe your thinking of getting one? Is there a tent you would recommend?

A reasonable tent Rich but I always find the inner of these tents close in on you and hey they get wet to - they do in the Nordisk. It's that sil nylon. Cheers for sharing mate. Mark

The F10 good value lightweight tent it outlasted my terranova tent. My Jack woolskin really good. The inner stays apart. Does not suffer from dampness to much as in a mesh inner. Still love to get a good light weight tent but for now stick to the tarp for that. Good long distance hike in Scotland this month one that does not seem be walk so much, so looking forward to that, Pron take the Jack Wolfskin tent. All best richard

Was where you ended up in Shrivenham, just round the corner from our house, should have popped in for morning coffee, and a bacon roll !! I love camping up there. Were you in the woods towards Didcot or the other way towards Waylands ?

Thanks for the offer of coffee and roll, I was in the woods towards Didcot. Camped there many times. Love it. Easy for me to get to. 10KM walk from the bustop to the camping spot. It was bustop just before Shrivenham but i have walked up from Shrivenham to the Ridgeway in past. I camped in Weyland woods alot but prefer the other woods. All best richard

I have the F10 helium and have always found it super water resistant. Survived a whole night of thundershowers with a dry interior (excluding a bit of the standard condensation). Wind on the other hand, it can handle but it is a pain to get nice and tort, I found it requires really good strong pegs for the front and rear guylines, MSR groundhogs work for me. It's sinylon so it always needs to be setup and then re-tensioned before going to bed, which can be a pain depending on the conditions.

I find that as well resetting it for incoming storms. Its a great tent i think and good value compared to other lightweight tents. It outlasted a Terranova tent i had as well. I am going have test out in a stronger storm so how it goes, Strongest storm i had it in was on the Cambrian way in Snowdonia 70mph winds strong rain this was when in was still in good shape, My sleeping bag did get wet but that only cuz i had wet bag inside the tent. I had it up with no wind shelter in end had move the tent it was to much for it. I found a sheltered spot with bushes around. The tent was fine there but was hell of a storm. Had in light snow as well which fine. All best richard

@@4seasonbackpacking Ha braver than me then. The most I had mine in was 45mph gusts in a semi sheltered spot and I feel that was about the moderate limit for the tent. (Mind you that was with gusts hitting the tent side on, presumably if it is pitched into the wind it can handle more. If yours's is 3+ years old might be worth refreshing the DWR coating on the outer fly sheet to improve water resistance. I like that the UL is not full mesh, means when condensation falls on the inner fly it will not leak in unless you really brush against it. Also retains heat in warmer conditions. Only thing I really dislike is the zippers tbh, they get stuck and need two hands to operate at all times. Got stuck outside mine in a hailstorm once was not much fun.

@@iwasapirateonce1639 Thanks for the input. On mine one of zips on the mesh door has failed now but i just use the other zip and its ok. I really do need to rewater proof it now.

jack wolfskin gossamer tent which I been using for years. I had it in all weather. Can handle wind and rain much better but is 1.7kg

Thank you. I wonder if there is a budget friendly (under £400???) , light weight (1kg) 3 season (plus UK lowland winters??) tent which could withstand high winds and rain? :)

Strange to erect a tent in woodland in a storm to test it in high wind.. weren't you more concerned about tree fall in a storm than the tent in the wind .. just curious
@4seasonbackpacking
@4seasonbackpacking 2 жыл бұрын
Reason for it was because only place i could camp in the area with out any problems. I was a bit concerned but was fairly low risk as was a yellow storm warning for rain not wind. I have been there in much more wind. I never seen any serous branches down in the part the forest and is often windy there.
