I bought this tent two months ago. I don't know if it is a redesign or if it is already present on your tent, but I can open the door completely without it flapping. The toggle underneath the zip can go into another togel located on the door. Then, you can fix the door with a hook and loop to the inside of the tent. It works really well.

I enjoyed the presenters enthusiasm and obvious knowledge and the firebrand narration with illustrations, very practicle. A tent enthusiasts dream!

I had one of these, I sold it. It was too saggy, unless you're prepared to spend ages getting a perfect pitch, even then it sags badly when it's wet. The condensation was bad, it flaps around and is noisy in moderate wind. Yes it's light, but that's one of the only good things it has going for it. If you can sacrifice a bit of extra weight, go for something with more poles, that's sturdier and pitches tight straight away. I have come to prefer polyester over sil-nylon as it stays taught. I've had many tents, including this one and the Helm 1 by Wild Country remains my favourite, even though it's heavy at 1.9 kilos. Remember with flimsy lightweight tents you're nearly always going to need a footprint, so that bumps the weight up anyway.

I wish you’d learned how to pitch it taut before giving up on this superb little tent. By simply angling the end poles outwards, you pull the whole tent taut as a drum. I have high end tents like the Akto and Nordisk Telemark, and very low end Amazon cheapies, the Vango Helium is the best tent I own 👍🏻
@stevec8243 Жыл бұрын
You didn't take the time to learn how to pitch it properly. I can get mine like a drum. Not sure why you think you'd need a groundsheet. The floor is 70D. I've never used a groundsheet with a Laser Comp which is over 10 years old and had been pitched all over the Cairngorms and is still like new.

All Sil nylon tents get saggy when wet. As the others said, learn to pitch it. Some people get it askew or not taut enough. I've had it on lots of trips into the mountains in Ireland and Scotland in all weather and it has served me fine.

Another positive for this tent is I keep it with the outer, inner and footprint all connected - means it pitches quickly A&E easily. 6’2” and can sit up inside.
@JoshuaBeekOfficial8 ай бұрын
Don't you touch the inner tent while laying on a tall sleeping pad?
@br53808 ай бұрын
@@JoshuaBeekOfficialmy pad is about 5cm, and not had an issue, but the tent is quite sensitive to to guying out, so once it’s up a do quite a bit of ‘micro-adjustment’ to get it ‘right’.

Thanks for the video. Really like the F10 helium for bikepacking. I usually peg out the corners first and then the end poles (make to toe them out a little). That really gives a tout pitch 😀

Great video as always, I’ve just bought my first tent. Went for a Naturehike cloud up 2 as I’ve seen good reviews. Looking forward to my first wild camp in a few weeks 👍🏻

What sort of wind speeds do you think this tent could handle?
@wesleyhendricks42197 ай бұрын
Force 10 🤣 I own this tent he does a very poor job pitching the tent the bottom of end poles needs too point inward to get the flysheet nice and tight!

nice lower end one man option for people that don't want or can't afford to fork out best part of a grand for hilleberg akto or fjallraven abisko lite1
@DavidPMcEntee Жыл бұрын
Agreed! But I’d call it a mid range option comparing it to my old Alps Mountain 1 man Lynx tent! 🤣 This is a awesome tent!
@aaronjames0587 Жыл бұрын
@@DavidPMcEntee oh I agree with you! when I say lower end I just mean sub 500 600 quid tent. but yes if we are saying low, mid, high then mid it is.
@stevec8243 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it a lower end tent. I actually prefer it to the Terra Nova Laser Competition which it replaced. The Laser Comp was 3 x the price of the F10.

Bought this tent a few weeks ago, not pitched it yet but I've had it out. I've tried pitching it but found it abit difficult. What's the best way to pitch it? Thanks
@DavidPMcEntee Жыл бұрын
Not easy! Just get all the pegs in then go around again and pull them all apart as far as they can go I’d say!

Good video .though you seemed like you were In a rush to spit out as much info and opinion as possible, I thought I was watching an American video . Agree with you on the tent .I also have one and love it . Though my new twice as big , 50 % lighter camo tent may over take the ul1 as my fave . That's the dd hammocks pyramid tent in camo .

Watch out buying this tent from certain retailers they are riddled with manufacturing mistakes (missing door loops, missing inner connections and tensioning systems access points) No longer manufactured in Scotland they are now made in China.
@mountain_del1863 Жыл бұрын
100% Correct. I am Scottish and I'm a massive Vango fan but last few years quality has dived. From the magnificent Micro tbs 100, F10 Baltoro and F10 Vortex. Even the older F10 helium 100 and xenon are all still decent........but the newer stuff isn't up to scratch, not anywhere near as good as it used to be. Sad, as they are an absolute UK outdoor icon.
@lucymooch5821 Жыл бұрын
@@mountain_del1863 When companies decide to go to China to save on manufacturing costs so does the quality in everything I have come across, the Chinese know the game, yes yes yes we can make quality, the truth No No no we supply rubbish. They used to make ships called Junks, now its just a single word.
@br538011 ай бұрын
Had mine a year or so, different colour scheme to this one and no quality issues. Second the need to get the pitching right.

Name and shame the companies
@camperlists70905 ай бұрын
Chinese production is not a problem, many great companies make their tents in China. It's just that these outdoor companies have a lower budget to pay the Chinese tent factories, so the quality goes down. You want great quality, no problem, add more budget. You get what you pay for.
