Nice one lads. I've just got this tent myself, upgraded from a Vango Soul 300. Blown away by the all-around quality upgrade to the Scafell 300+. I particularly love how easy it is to get the poles into the eyelets, with the adjustable straps. Enjoyed watching this review. Cheers, Will

Cheers Will , yes Dan seemed well chuffed with this tent too! I was surprised how easy the poles went in too compared with my OEX . Thanks for subscribing and the kind comments. Will hopefully have Dan and myself out in the next week or so, so he can probably test it out.

I always like the choice of carrying a few options too mate luckily when you carry a tarp you can have any form of shelter you like, as long as you have cordage.

@@sonofapitch6238 currently I've two 3.3 tarps and the spirit, Hammock pod system and a secondary down bag, But I'm working on a twintarp system and a mylar lined pack cover that's also big enough to be a biv. So yeah, man likes options haha :-) 👍

Hey, is this tent the same as the discontinued Pulsar 300 plus? I have the Pulsar 300 plus and, I be damned if, I can see a difference, other than mine came with a footprint😂

I’m not sure as I never saw or owned the Pulsar. However I know tent manufacturers are a nightmare for just renaming models and tweaking them slightly. So I reckon your probably right mate 😂

I have the Omega 350, similar in design but older and heavier, minus tension straps though. I use it for motorcycle rallies/camping weekends, I would have thought that both these tents would be out for backpacking, too bulky and heavy?

They are on the heavy side for backpacking but still very manageable in a large pack. Have no problems so far fitting them in to my military issue Bergen wIth the rest of my kit.

I'm considering both for motorcycle touring... would you recommend the Omega, or tempted by the Scafell? 2kgs lighter, and better stability suggests the Scafell is better, but aye, smaller too! :/

@@johnanderson3412 I still have the Omega, certainly recommend it but it's been around for a long time now, other options could be better.

Are you motorcycle camping alone in this tent? Im looking for a tent for my own for motorcycle adventures. Is this 300 or the 350 to big?

@@kleef465 Yes, it's just me sleeping in it, my mate had a tiny crawl in type then in comparison. Both of us sat on chairs in the porch area making tea whilst it were hammering it down with rain for example. Mine is the 350, I don't like being cramped up, it's nice to have extra space rather than not enough is my moto.

Thanks for watching mate. Dan has had this tent out in wet conditions a few times now in wales and so far it’s be really good no leaks or drips. So I’m sure it will manage the Scottish summer just fine. It’s going to be busy up the WHW this summer I know about 30 different people walking it in the summer. It’s a trek I’ve wanted to do but I’m going to built up to it.

I have done various long hikes in the Scottish highlands got a couple of vids on my own youtube channel check em out whenever your free. I have always come back to my nice cosy cabin with a hot shower after and sofa to lounge on. Corrour to Spean bridge is my favourite hike as its very remote and is about 15 miles in one day. West highland way is gonna be an experience as ive never hike camped before so I am jumping in the deep end so I am doing research on everything I can from tents to gear and every single part of the route. Seeing your previous vids I am pretty sure WHW will be a walk in the park for you, if you got time this year id recommend you do it and post here as I will deffo be watch it, also when mines complete, ill be detailing everything.

@@wooizm just subscribed mate, 400 videos wow 😮 you have been bloody busy. Will start to check them out later on pal. Can’t beat a cosy cabin. You will be fine camping on the hike as you have lots of experience hiking and the camping is the easy bit 😂. The Scafell is not the lightest of tents but it does give you a massive sleeping space and sheltered vestibule for cooking or storage. Going round the lakes on a multi day hike in July. Start training on Monday after a big weekend community camp on Friday

Hi Gareth, thanks for the comment, I can’t answer for Dan, but having been in both of these and having used my OEX extensively. I’m learning towards recommending the Vango. Simply because it so much easier to get the poles into position. The OEX is still too much of a hassle and fight to get the poles in. One of my poles recently snapped on the OEX I was having to apply that much force. Side by side the vango has a larger sleeping area too.

Hi Gareth it's Dan here hope you are well . After spending the night out in the vango last week in heavy rain I can recommend it . Haven't had any issues so far there is plenty of space for 2 people and the porch area is ideal for those rainy days to keep your kit dry and to do any cooking out of the wind and rain . Hello, great video! I am very interested in buying this tent, is exactly what i am looking for, but i am scared about the floor being too thin. What do you think about that after you have used it? And if you guys think that it´s not good could you recommend me another tent like this with strong floor? Thank you!!

Hi Camila, Thanks for watching the video. Dan has used this tent several times and though the ground sheets feels thin, he has never had a problem with water coming in . It’s been on soft pretty tough ground and so far nothing has managed to damage the ground sheet. I think you will enjoy this tent if you was to buy it.

How do you feel the vango compares to your oex coyote 3 ? I'm trying to decide between them .cheers

Cheers for watching mate, well weight and size wise there is not a lot in it, however I feel that overall quality the Vango has the edge. The inside tension system makes me feel that in rough weather the Vango would perform better. Plus the poles on the Vango are easier to locate in place the OEX is a struggle every time unless you trim a few mm of the poles. Hope this helps

@@sonofapitch6238 cheers for the reply .the oex is on offer atm .from go out doors for £130 and the vango is around £200 so a big saving that is hard to ignore . Would you say the oex is wider inside than the vango .at 1.7 m the vango sounds a touch narrow for 3 people .

@@rufusduck71 the prices are certainly different, and saving £70 on the tent is £70 you could spend on over equipment. The OEX is slightly wider however I would say it would be a squeeze to get 3 people sleeping in either one. Maybe 2 adults and a child at a push. The vestibule/porch areas are great for storing bags and kit or for cooking in if the weather is bad.

Twiglet 2 😂 would say that pros are loads of space perfect for 2 people , strong solid 3 season tent . Can be pitched inner attached . Cons are it’s a heavy tent for backpacking and doesn’t pack down very small.

@@lornemcneil no worries mate, this is a 3 season tent in description you are right that the 4 season means winter. You could use this in winter, but for it to be classed as 4 season it would need to have what they call snow guards/flaps around the bottom of the fly to stop snow blowing under . That’s the only difference really mate.
