How would you compare the ball head on that tripod to your Acratechs (if you are still using these).

Great question, funny this Acratech head is nearly the same cost as this entire setup from Vanguard. At the end of the day, the Acratech is a superior ball head, no questions asked. However let's be real here, 95% of photographers out there will find the ball head on this Vanguard rig will do exactly what they need from a ball head. Plus side, they save a grip of cash for a rainy day! After 4 months of beating the H#@! out of this tripod/ballhead, Vanguard earned some respect from me. Not something I would have given to their tripods 10 years ago.
