Well he’s DLC, so he’s privileged. Sakurai has to make him broken or then no one will play him. Just look at the DLC characters in Ultimate.

Here it is. The longest Smash video I’ve made yet. I decided to only cover Pre patch Diddy’s up air as I thought that would be a lot quicker than covering the whole character. Turns out I was mistaken. At least making this video means that whenever I do a followup video covering the rest of Pre-patch Diddy, that video will be a lot shorter, since I covered the biggest things here. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the video and are having a nice day. Outside of my mic not being the best, a few small recording/editing errors and me missing a few small details (like Banana, grab being a thing or staling the up air (which I skipped since I felt that it wasn’t too significant)), I’m pretty happy with how this video ended up and I hope you all enjoy it too. I wonder what other low tiers besides Jigglypuff could be worth discussing in a video. I mained Bowser Jr. for the entire game although Charizard who did get a laundry list of changes in later patches and still somehow ended up being a low tier unfortunately. I'm sure Charizard would be a really interesting video overall with how much there is to cover

There is way more to talk about with all the other low tiers compared to Jigglypuff. It would be nice to get through as many characters as I can thorough-out my lifetime.

@@bigbangbot-SuperSqank Ganondorf (and Zelda) is right above Jigglypuff in the final tier list, but he had dedicated mains and massive buffs throughout the entire life of Sm4sh. There’s a lot to talk about with him and he has a functional toolkit. It’s just not fast enough.

Ganondorf and Zelda will both be complex yet very interesting characters to talk about. As bad as they are in the final game, they used to be considerably worse. They both got a lot of changes and they still ended up being bottom tier. They were just less awful than they were originally.

Thanks. It’s less so that Hoo Hah is fake and more that it isn’t as overcentralising as people make it out to be (especially when up throw up air was right there). It is a 50/50 with appropriate DI and while it was still very strong, being a 50/50 that lasted for a pretty long time, it’s not exactly the long lasting kill confirm people made it out to be. It was very strong at those higher percents where up throw up air stopped working (which I admittedly didn't stress as much as I could have) but before getting to those percents , up throw up air was an absolute no brainer, either being a 50/50 which worked earlier or a downright KO confirm (at significantly lower percents) with a built in DI mixup from Diddy. The thing that gets me though is that Hoo Hah is the remembered infamous thing while the far more potent up throw up air gets forgotten by comparison. I believe that was one of the main things which really pushed me to make this video.

14:59 if up throw up air whit full rage at the top platform kills mario (aka a character whit above avarage weight) at 28%, THEN WHEN DOES THIS KILL AGAINST JIGLYPUFF?!?!?!?!?

When i checked diddy kong update history he got alot of nerfs to his other moves in 1.0.6 & 1.0.8 Down tilt 0.5 less damage Foward smash is significantly weaker Monkey flip is also gotten weaker alot of his KO options have been nerfed also his Foward air also got nerfed which also hinders his damage & KOing power Except up smash & down smash being buffed

Of course, Diddy did get a bunch of other nerfs in those patches too. They weren't relevant to the video which is why I skipped out on mentioning them. If I ever do that follow up video though, I will indeed go through all the other changes.

Vanilla smash 4 back then have there own characters that were broken Diddy kong the one you're covering Luigi his downthrow combos being insanely busted in Vanilla Greninja was combo killing machine Sonic was way stronger at the time Fox jab was more powerful cause huge jablocks Sheik was more powerful in vanilla like man that old version have alot broken characters and these are the obvious ones

Yeah, there was a lot of wack stuff for sure. I already made a video covering Sheik and Greninja… let’s just say I’ll be looking at him in the foreseeable future. His story is definitely more unique compared to other vanilla top tiers.

It's so sad how much worse it is in ultimate still. Look at the hitbox on ultimate frame data, same initial frame, but it hits way higher to the point that it basically never hits out of a shorthop or when landing.

Yeah, they did not need to do that. The move was fine in 4 after all the nerfs. They did give it less ending lag and more power in Ultimate though (compared to post patch 4) so it wasn't all bad for up air.

Too bad diddy still remained one of the best characters in the games despite the nerfs. Diddy has been on the rise in ultimate due to buffs and tweek showing off what he’s capable of. Aaron and dakpo also just not tweek level.

Wait so the removal of LSI made things worse 🤣. WTF Nintendo, one of the worst patches they could’ve done. Any idea why they might’ve done this ?

I believe the reason they did it was pretty clear. They wanted the game to be more combo focused and they didn’t want people to live for as long. Some notable criticisms Brawl received from some players were that combos were too restrictive and people lived for too long and vertical LSI allowed that to carry over in early Smash 4 to an extent. By removing vertical LSI, it naturally made combos more consistent/potent and it meant that players were not living as long, appeasing to players who wanted a more combo heavy game. That did have the side effect of introducing guaranteed early vertical KO confirms, ladder combos to KOes and extremely early rage jank though. I don’t think the change was objectively good or bad, it just appealed to a decent chunk of the fanbase which I totally get. I will say however that personally, I do think that the change removed a layer of depth to the game and it overall made the game considerably cheesier. I think it’s a shame that it was removed (I wouldn’t have removed it myself) but I do get it.

Ok did some research, LSI still exists but… it was much more restrictive depending on the launch angle of a move.

Growing up with American media and primarily hearing the US pronunciation of the word has made me pronounce it like that. The British way of saying just doesn’t feel right to me. Sorry.
