My cat Binx had to be transported to a hospital in Boston for treatment. And his brother and I sat up all last night missing him. And this is like like a cross of how I know we both feel. That cat helped me with my ptsd. To say this is hard doesn't begin to convay how deeply I miss him and how much I am falling back into my dark thoughts. But his brother and I are just here for eachother. Somehow, this song is helping, even tho it brings me to tears.

@@haruyoshida2338 Thank you for this. I was 12 when I posted this comment, and this event was actually kind of stunting for my emotional growth. I was a very sad person for a long time, and it still is something I consider to be a turning point in my life. The person mentioned was my sister's best friend, who my mom let live with us because she didn't like to be at home. I now realize this was due to a lot of abuse she was suffering at the hands of her much older brother and possible neglect from her mother. It is so important to get help, and to get other people help. While I no longer blame myself for this event (I was a child) I do think more could've been done. She had a lot of warning signs of a troubled home and potential suicide such as discomfort around her brother, anxiety attacks, becoming suddenly very happy the week leading up to her suicide, and the fact that she even asked to live with us in the first place. Contacting the suicide hotline, family members of the person you are concerned about, and emergency mental health services are all essential steps that I recommend anyone who find themself in this situation take. I am 21 now, have an apartment with the love of my life, have 2 cats, have a part time job and my own business, and am battling 2 autoimmune diseases (both of which I will hopefully be getting surgery for soon.) I am saving money to go to school in a few years! I am working on becoming healthier and less anxious, but overall I think I am in a great spot that I never thought I would be in again after this shook up my life. I don't cry when I hear this song anymore, but I do always think of her every time without fail. My sister, my parents and a few other close cousins and friends have celebrated her birthday every single year since she died without fail. She would've been 25 a couple weeks ago. Anyone who is reading this and going through a hard time right now: Your life has value. If someone you love has passed, their life has value. It deserves to be protected. Please reach out to mental health professionals and loved ones to protect any life you suspect may be at risk. You can be okay again, and in time everything passes. That can be horrifying to realize, but I with the right mindset it can also be comforting. Right now I am sitting in bed, eating cereal, watching my cat play with my glasses and watching the Castlevania anime (it's on Netflix, watch if you haven't and thank me later.) I've been fine for awhile and I'll keep getting better. I am okay. This reflection was really important for me. Thank you, again, for reminding me of this.

Not sure if anyone will see this but I feel like updating people: I'm 23 now, and pursuing a PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience, so I can take part in the research that helps us detect and treat those with mental health issues. While this isn't directly a result of losing that friend when I was only 13 I find myself thinking of this comment lately, and the people checking on me. I appreciate it. I know my comment seems blunt, but I was young, processing new feelings, and am also autistic. I try really hard to stay connected to that child who was looking for any outlet to be understood and to try and function during a detrimental tragedy. I feel like a tree who has grown ring around this past version of myself, looking within. The internet tends to be a harsh place, and I was fortunate enough to be met with kindness while being very vulnerable in almost every conceivable way. People acting this way means a lot, and there is data to suggest that it is vital in treating mental health issues. Keep being kind.
