What I like about this story is how it illustrates the long history of societal clashes. Virtually every time two societies collide, neither is innocent. I like how she doesn’t try to mask her own species’ guilt for savagely killing any human wanderer while acknowledging the mistrust from humans leading to Kitsune hunters.

Judging from the statistics mentioned, the war mentioned in the origin story was most likely the Civil War or WW1. There was no time frame given, but these wars had battles famous for the number of casualties taken. The battle of Shiloh and the Battle of the Somme perfectly fit the "Tragedy" mentioned. On a side note, the voice acting was perfect as usual! I am still practicing the magic you taught me, but I still can't make a molotov cocktail with my fire yet. I also can't get my ears to stop twitching for some reason...

The war the Kitsunes mother was talking about was WW2 wasn’t it? She mentions how “it started about 2 years ago but now it’s escalated”. WW2 started in 1939, however 2 years later, in 1941, is when America enters and Germany invades Russia. It would match the description given anyhow.

The script is fairly vague, and I made it moreso with line flubs/adlibs and such, so I think it's best to leave it that way. No war in human history has ever been without its atrocities on every side of the conflict, even if those atrocities varied by degrees of severity, and yokai have long lives, so I don't think it ultimately matters much.

A very nice audio. Well done. Though I do have one curious question that I'm hoping you'll see and answer. If to say, any human children or even a baby have somehow wondered close into the Village alone. Would the yokai still kill them? Or take them as prisoners?

Since I didn't write this series, I can't say for sure. But I think that question is (probably) a non-starter. The village is at least six hours, by foot, from human civilization. And that's at an adult's pace! Plus, it's in a dense forest, which is likely full of natural predators and other obstacles. A child would probably perish from exposure long before they could stumble on the yokai. And if they somehow miraculously didn't...I imagine what would happen to them would depend entirely on if the yokai who finds them is sympathetic to humans or not.

Well, one of my goals for 2023 was to do more multi-script roleplays because I have a huge backlog of scripts I want to do, many of which are series, and my schedule just doesn't have time for them all otherwise. Like, for instance: this audio is six scripts long. At my usual rate of one audio a week, it'd eat up a month and a half of my schedule if I did each one separately. So, more multi-script audios! And I decided to do one multi-script per week for Monster Girl Mayhem, to sort of test the waters; y'know, to see if I could handle the workload, and how my audience felt about it. Figured it'd be good to knock a bunch off my to-do list at once and look at the results.

the audio is cute, but the starting premise of 'killing all humans that stumble near hidden yokai villages' seems self defeating-surely them killing a bunch of humans that wander near their village would alert hunters of there possibly being something there? Especially if they're actively looking for yokai. Seems much less likely to draw attention if they just mislead humans that stumbled near their village using their magic-done in a way that isn't obviously magic, just someone getting lost in the woods, which they should be able to easily do with the type of magic that the kitsune alone showed, let alone other yokai in the village. The whole 'you could die, or be turned into a yokai (which is almost guaranteed death anyways)' is kind of a false choice too...an actual choice would have been 'become a yokai and stay or get your memories wiped and never come back here or know we met'. Really, thinking about it more, surely some of the yokai have memory manipulation spells, no?

Since I didn't write this series, I can only theorize based on the available information in the canon but: Tamamo says it's been two years since a human found their village, and it takes at least six hours (by foot) to even stumble on it. There's also no indication that the people who do find it didn't just happen to breach any protections/misdirection spells like those you mentioned. People go missing without a trace alllllll the time, even in densely populated or well traveled areas, and some are never found even after extensive searches of their last known locations. Like, something like 1000 hikers go missing just in the US National Parks each year, some of whom are never seen again. And those are wild places with lots of supporting infrastructure! Not your garden variety forest in the middle of nowhere. If this yokai village is sufficiently remote, and people go missing only once every couple of years, it'd be pretty easy to fly under the radar. Cell phones, which are trackable, have only been ubiquitous for the past 20-ish years, so assuming a human only goes missing every 2-5 years in this area, that's only 4-10 missing people during the past couple of decades when they *might* have been more easily found. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, she says that yokai hunters are unaware that many yokai relocated. Can't find something you're not looking for? re: the "transformation or death" dilemma (?): I dunno, by that logic, going to trial in the hopes of getting a life sentence instead of being sent to death row is sort of a false choice because you're going to die in prison anyway. Or how some people choose (potentially) lethal treatment for (definitely) lethal diseases. I know it's not 1:1, but...yeah. It's not a great choice, don't get me wrong! Definitely not ethically sound! But it is *a* choice to some degree. (And I'm not sure Tamamo would have killed the listener anyway; she clearly doesn't want to, and is looking for the only out available to her right then. If the listener had said no, it's just as likely she'd have kept them hostage awhile and tried to come up with another solution, it's just the transformation spell is the one she'd been working on anyway.) But again, this is all conjecture! I didn't write this, so I can't say for sure.

@@VanillaVelvetAudio Hunters unaware that many yokai relocated-but do they think all yokai are dead/gone? Probably not really thought out since they're just a background detail for the script, but it seems perhaps naively hopeful to think all the hunters have just given up trying to hunt yokai since they haven't been able to find the ones that moved to remote locations. Maybe there aren't as many of them/they aren't as actively hunting around as they were in the past because of not encountering many yokai in recent years, but I don't think they'd have entirely disbanded/given up, especially with things happening like Shuuto's friend that was killed recently by humans (though I'm not sure if that was specified as being because of hunters or just some accident or something that humans were involved in) Transformation vs death-perhaps others think of it differently, but with how this choice is given either way the listener is effectively dead-their human life is over either way. The transformation option at least have the possibility of them getting to continue living on as a yokai, but that doesn't change that their human life is over, and anyone they knew/loved (parents, siblings, friends, etc.) will think they're dead. Maybe they could eventually learn good enough illusion magic to resume their human life if they wanted (doesn't seem likely given most/all yokai are in hiding), or at least visit on occasion, but even that would probably take months/years and most people in their life would think they're already dead, so having them suddenly show back up would lead to a lot of questions the listener might not be able to answer, not to mention probably get at least some news coverage of someone that was missing being back/found after months/years which might draw the attention of yokai hunters (if they're on the lookout for that kind of thing, they might not be). As for this vs the choosing hazardous treatment to try and fight a disease or trial for a crime-they aren't really comparable since neither would have the same effect of forcing a situation where the person is assumed to be dead by everyone that knew them. The illness situation would mean people (if they're even told the person is sick) know the person's remaining time is very limited, while being on trial for a crime could have the people the person knows abandon them if the crime they're accused of is severe enough, but neither has the same factor of 'person is suddenly dead/missing without any explanation' that the transform/death choice has For Tamamo's part in this-I don't think she's intentionally cruel/manipulative, but she did bring the listener back to the village via magic rather than just misdirecting them to wander away from the village since they hadn't actually seen the village or any yokai before Tamamo showed up, so she kind of messed up by bringing the listener directly to the village and ending up sort of forcing the transform/death choice rather than having the option of just using magic to lead the listener away from the village without ever seeing it or knowing it was there. She probably was the option least hazardous to the listener to be found by since it seems like most other yokai would have just killed them on sight, so she does have that going for her, and she does seem pretty kind and cute after they get past the whole accidental 'oops...probably shouldn't have brought you directly to the village' thing Maybe I'm just overthinking the whole thing, but the script and scenario is still a cute one even with these things that are kind of weird/messed up if you think about it. It's definitely not as bad as the ones that are definitely crazy/bad like the ones with stalkers or kidnappers
