My partner ( who has now, sadly, passed away) lived in the city of Perm. We often traveled the 180 km by road/dirt track to her home village which was identical to the ones in this video only more populated. We visited in summer and winter alike. It was a Tatar village so my very limited Russian language was useless. They live a simple life in what can be a harsh environment and by western standards could be called poor. What they lacked in modern conveniences however, they more than made up for in ingenuity, friendliness and a warmth many westerners would envy. I miss my partner, who was sadly taken early in life with cancer and thank her for showing me this wonderful part of the world.

When you're young, you want better opportunities for education, jobs, a better house, shopping, entertainment and a better choice of potential spouse. Staying in the villages means you will never be any more than your parents and grandparents going back many generations and you'll always be poor. Scratching in the dirt to grow root vegetables is hard and boring work and with price fixing by the government, not profitable.

@@gamewizard1760 healthy organic food and clear not polluted air is major reason why many stay in countrysides... yes schools and hospitals are hard to reach, but still life in countryside is way more calm and healthy. Lena, I love your name. My grandparents came to US in 1912 from a small village named Vyshkov in Russia, have you heard of that village? My uncle and his family lived there and around 1944 my uncle was killed by the Germans when they invaded that country during WW11. His wife and their four children and other family members still lived there in 1969. My grandfather who died in 1951 was the only one who could read and write in Russian. We corresponded through a Russian friend who wrote letters to family members from us and translated the mail that we received from them. My grandmother died in 1965 and our friend died in 1969. We lost all communication at that time. We knew no one else who could read and write Russian. We still have the letters that my grandmother had received from them. I am 77 years old and I had first cousins around my age. I would love to know if any of our family are still living.. if you could give me any advice on this I would so appreciate it. My mom and her siblings are all gone now and there no one left who speaks Russian in our family now. I have enjoyed these videos about Russia. I love them and all the information. Thank You. I grew up in NYC and now live in a semi rural environment. I would live completely rural but not everyone in our family wants to live in a totally rural setting. We love living away from the city. It seems like over the past 10 -15 years or so more and more people are leaving the cities and living a more natural life in semi-rural and rural areas. Trading conveniences for less stress, less crime, no pollution, no crowds and a camaraderie amongst your neighbors that you just don't get in the cities seems to be growing in popularity. Soul of any country dwells in the villages of that county, so unfortunate to watch them live their beautiful village for the very sake of making their lives luxurious which is simply running after the butterfly which couldn't be caught how hard you try. Nature is the main plus point for living in the villages, and what else you require...

Do not talk nonsense. The peak of the population of Russia was in 1992 - about 149 million. Then began to fall. Until 2009, it fell by 7 million (to about 142), and since 2010 it is growing (now about 147). For objectivity, you can subtract 2 million Crimeans.

Ancient thought :- Nature is the source of every knowledge. Learning from nature will make man immortal. But, unfortunaly, for modern man, nature is just a physical object. Losing bond with nature is a sign of self distruction, and that's exactly what is happening today. Man becoming more and more mechanical and materialistic.

I agree, these villages will likely be revived to feed the wealthy, not the masses. A rich land owner will gain control and they will have the best food on the planet compared to what we eat. No chemical fertilizers, no pesticides/herbicides or gmo either, a perfectly natural environment to grow/harvest natural food, something we have gotten away from unfortunately.

That's how it should be. People there have the right to some comforts in life. The government should help them make a living and assist them in improving their community. But you can't industrialize the rural areas for the sake of profit or greed. Keep it that way to preserve its beauty. That's what keeps a country healthy.

Hi, I live in a small village name Radhakund(Vrindavan) of a Northern Indian State of UP. There are few Russians living in our village with or without valid documents. We all know each other and treated them like one of us. I think their lifestyle back home was much better than where they are here. I think this is the matter of where the heart is . Of course they are here for the shake of spiritual purpose. For me, honestly home is where the heart is, it doesn’t not matter where ever you are. I was brought up somewhat in comfort based modern living but I determine and choose to lead a simple but meaningful life’s purposeful mission.

Russia has come up with some viable solutions which can only be the beginning. My question is, has solar energy been looked at? Hydro power? And there must be improvement made to roads so the people can be connected! This makes me sad. Big cities are just too dangerous to me

Rural life is more productive and prosperous in long time. It's full of social life and happiness. I ever recommend anyone to go to cities for long time. Go earn for economic setup and back to your native village where you can spend your whole life for happiness and joyful. Love from India!

The collapse of the USSR was devastating...many of the youth from rural area left the country after the collapse. Thankfully Putin has done a good job of rebuilding the country and instituting programs that help former Russian citizens to return to the motherland... thank you for making this video.

Amazing video! Thank you! Country neglected for many years.. such beautiful areas should beam with success and happy people .. what we see is desperation.. Rich business people with kind heart needed badly there!! But unfortunately elite is occupied to steal more and move to Monte Carlo or Nice.. very sad .. love people there .. Thank you again !
