This is the first time I saw that scene. It speaks volumes how Priscilla saw for the first time that Elvis lost his temper and it was difficult to realize he didn’t want her to have an opinion that was different than his. Also how he said he was sorry and wanted her to just immediately accept the fact he was sorry and just move on as if it didn’t happened. It did happen and she was not given time to cope with fear and realization that she couldn’t speak her mind and have her own opinion.
@saphireblue356311 ай бұрын
Did you hear Coppola admit here that in real life Elvis never threw a chair at Priscilla? Yes he did want her to have an opinion and asked for it. He often showed temper, not just around Priscilla but it was always directed at OBJECTS not at people.

When its so clear how tense Elvis really was.

Then The height difference between the two actors helps create this very large male- dominating presence that looms over a smaller softer female presence almost showing how predatory it really was.

Ela e a mãe conheceram versões bem diferentes do Elvis.

This one scene does NOT define Elvis. To really evaluate this scene or any other scene in the movie we must contextualise the moments both before and after, in other words the reasons behind the actions. When things are taken or read out of context then the actual scene can be totally void of any rhyme or reason. Sometimes what isnt shown actually gives the plot more impetus and a believeable, empathetic and meaningful narrative. To my mind this scene shows, by not showing, that something was clearly bothering Elvis at this moment in time , and sadly Priscilla or anyone around him received his wrath. Elvis was human, very human, but way too often neither expected nor allowed to be. 😔

Yes E had a temper that's well known but never have I heard Anita Wood Linda Thompson Ginger Alden in their books say Elvis did anything like that to them -- P is a liar and about money - and destroying Elvis!!! What was she thinking this would do??? Paint Elvis in a beautiful light? She knew what She was doing and didn't even listen to her own daughter --

Breaking things when angry in front of someone is still abuse, even if the person isn’t directly targeted. It’s saying that violence is an option I’m willing to use and you’re not safe. Stop being an apologist for abuse.

@@hoover728 I disagree. You can throw an object at a wall yet never have any intention of hurting your spouse. And he never did. Its still a very disrespectful, overly dramatized version of the true story.

@@hoover728 she threw things at him too, I’m going to go out on a limb and say those moments are not included in the film?

‘Emotional and verbal abuse also includes violence that isn’t directed specifically at people but is used to intimidate, like slamming doors, throwing things, destroying belongings, or harming pets. These behaviors are just as serious as other forms of abuse and may damage self-worth and well-being.’ I hope you’re not in an abusive relationship? The type of justifications you’re making sound like Stockholm syndrome.
