@stjudetheobscure25 күн бұрын
The film begins with the semi-circle of the lecture hall and develops into the circular hallway she walks in the hospital, in part suggesting Adam’s character’s journey and understanding time. There’s so much more to the film than the CGi, acting and script.

@surferboi6124 күн бұрын
not a stretch at all if you have seen other Denis movies. Lots more symbols if you watch carefully.
@stjudetheobscure24 күн бұрын
@@michaelgreene4816 I don’t think so. How many circular hallways have you ever seen in hospitals or hospital drama? They’re straight because you have to move people, beds and equipment through them. Try getting two hospital beds past each other in anything other than a straight hall… Heptapod language is circular, the question Louise asks when explaining the art of translation “What is your purpose on earth?” could be equally applied to her previously linear life but also to the humans she represents, the fact that what appear to be flashbacks are visions of the future, suggesting time is not linear, how Louise remarks on hugging Jeremy Renner’s character that she’d forgotten how much she missed him (in what human language would define as the future). The entire film asks the question of how we might act were our understanding of our lives not linear. Symbols of that question are everywhere.
