Back in the North again. I've only driven through Great Ayton but never stopped to visit, it looks great indeed! Looking forward to seeing you climb Roseberry Topping, I hope you choose an easier route than I did in January.

@gatersontour There are several routes up, apparently. One from Great Ayton, which is fairly easy, one which takes you up the back of the Topping from the car park at Gribdale Gate. The other options were the way we went. We parked at Newton under Roseberry car park and took the route through the woods to the shooting box. It wasn't easy but easier than the path that goes straight up. There is another route from that car park that takes you through the woods to the farm and then onto the topping. Nick and Jill at GenXplorers are the folks to speak to, I think they've attacked it from all angles.

Surprising that these little villages have such great history connected. Shame it was so wet as wanted to explore more. It's cold here today. Batteries are well and truly Goosed so off hunting for a leisure battery somewhere. Stay cosy xx
