Isn't it fun? I changed jobs and finally got some relief from work stress, and my wife and I have been having a blast cooking at home. There is SO MUCH amazing food you can make for basically what you were spending on easy-make frozen/prepared stuff anyway. This video inspired me to go find some Mongolian beef recipes! I think we'll try that this weekend. Yesterday we made the most incredible cheesecake I have ever tasted. I've also had a good time making protein-packed flatbread pizza and I'm going to start that back up, I think.
@80sgirly534 ай бұрын
Mongolian beef looks delicious will have to try it. Here’s a really easy recipe for a quick meal season pork chops and brown in olive oil. Add a can of mushroom soup with half a can mixed milk and water. I also add some canned or fresh chopped mushrooms. Simmer until pork chops are tender and cooked through. Serve with rice. Makes a tasty gravy.

wood is naturally antibacterial also, if you put oil on your pasta, it will block the absorption of any sauces you try to flavor it with. Just run a little water over them if they sit and get stuck together. it will loosen them right up. Best to keep some water they were cooked in for that, but any water will do. Happy cooking!
@e.v.emmons85676 ай бұрын
You can cut meat on a wooden board, they say it's better to reserve one board just for meat, but I've cut meat on all my boards, as well as veggies etc, and I just clean them up well in hot water and vinegar. I understand that wood has enzymes in it that actually help with keeping a board relatively germ free.
@TooLazyToFail6 ай бұрын
The dose makes the poison, so while it may be true that wood can absorb bacteria, if you're extra conscientious about it you can be very safe. Folks have been doing it for thousands of years.

I went on a camping trip with some buddies last summer who have a van like yours, think there was 3 vans total (live in ones) and one van that was basically a glorified supply carrier, and I’ve never felt more free than that summer trip, it was super relaxing, while in the uk we don’t have as many spots as the US I would still recommend people give it a try, it was so freeing.

Wood cutting boards are bacterially sound if you oil them every once a month or so, it's when they get cracked or fibrous from expanding from water then contracting when dry to cause bacterial issues
@patrickhigdon70506 ай бұрын
using a fat on the pasta will prevent any sauce you use from being adsorbed and adhering to the pasta, but you are 100% on why you don't use wood for cutting meat.

lol, in Bakersfield and we watched same Starlink take off from Vandenberg and spied ISS overhead immediately after! Lake Isabella is brutal in the wind; camped there several times when heading to Vegas or Grand Canyon from NorCal. Better bet would have been to head a little further up and camp along the Kern; great campsites, trout, scenery, and more protection from the wind. Usually very few people ... bonus!

Want to cook a lot of bacon, use a baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes @ 350 degrees. Save that bacon grease in a little container (Frig it). It will be good to cook with later (hamburgers, gravies, veggies, etc....)

Hi Ryan, enjoying your show. Just to assist, wooden boards are okay as long as you wash them after use and oil them with tung oil once in a while. also, when you cook noodles, you are correct. Add oil instead of water. My comments may be late, but better late than never. Thanks for sharing your journey. Russ

I like the cooking element of your videos. Watching you cook definitely encouraged me to be more adventurous and experiment with new recipes. As far as the cutting board goes I have read that you can use white vinegar to disinfect it. Just try to towel off the blood from the meat before putting it on the board so the blood doesn't soak into it.

When you cooking pasta, you put the water in there. You put the kosher salt in there.Then you put your virgin olive oil in there. Your vegetables, When you cook in vegetables, you never want to put the garlic first. Put the oil in there. Let the heat up, then put the vegetables in there that you cut up. Then you put the garlic in here. Then you season your vegetables. Whatever's left on the bottom, all the PAN. Put some more Virgin Olive oil in there. And then you cook the meat and everything. The reason Why chef say?Never use a wooden cutting board cross contaminate. And the reason why you don't use a plastic one. It's because bacteria turn phone on that board, if you don't clean your proper. And the reason why I know cause I am a chef certify.

Wooden chopping board is correct. The bacteria seeps into the wood. Basically over time you have a toxic cutting surface. BUT you can use a WOODEN chopping board. As long as it is TEAK. Basically teak has a natural anti-bacterial body. Readily available over here in Indonesia. Not sure how available one is elsewhere in the world.
