If u get a circular bucket with a screw on lid..add dirty clothes water and washing pdr..the movement of the van when travelling will wash it 4 u ! Also we have a "Dream pot" It is like a v large thermos with 2 removable stainless steel containers.U throw in meat veg liquid to season and cook..bring to a rolling boil on any cooking heat..when boiling quickly put in thermos container and close lid..this will slow cook all day and your meal will be cookef when you arrive at your destination..no fuss after a long day driving or if you are away hiking etc ! Sieve or strainer...same thing. Usually made with mesh (plastic or metal). Tiny openings. Colander = usually one piece (plastic or metal or ceramic) with holes drilled/stamped out of it. For vanlife needs, the sieve/strainer would be all you need. Tho have seen collapsible colanders. Probably wouldn't use very often.

Another great video! You guys are very well organized. Thank you for showing it. To know which box/bottle is the dish soap and which one is the clothing soap, my suggestion is to make a big sign on a label for each. You can buy those big labels pretty much anywhere you'll find office supplies and from the software "Word", you can create your own label. You can also add a color for each by hand cause I think those labels are available in white only. So, you can use paint to add a color on each label. It may be easier to remember that laundry is blue for example and red is the color for the dishes. Have a wonderful day! :-)

Hi Marie and Dom, great video again! I love that it shows with how minimal the really necessary things are, you really need to live off grid without compromising much. One question: Do you have blackout covers for the front windows? - Or do you only have a curtain behind the driver/passenger seat? These are usually quite bulky items which you ideally want to have as accessible as possible. Some of them need to require to be faulted flat dependent on the insulation built-in and to not get wrinkled or destroyed (when having Velcro, magnet, zipp or button attachments). If you need storage for these items I saw and thought about a "false floor compartment" which underneath your overhead compartment over your cockpit and opens up at the back. Or as a low cost version, use a net underneath it. I love these collapsable tuberware boxes you have. Never saw them before (just larger buckets and bowls in that style). Really great. Where did you found these? I am not a big fan of overhead cabinets in vans, although you used them correctly (just for light items) and it is less an issue with Promaster Vans, but theses cabinets usually tend to make the van/space feel crowded and claustrophobic. Especially if you have a van which has tapering walls. I rather prefer to use the lower space as much as possible (to keep the overall weight as low as possible) and then if there is still not enough room, try to only build as less deep overhead cabinets as possible and preferably only on one side of the van (although not ideal for symmetry reasons) just to keep the feel of an open space as best as possible. On that note: I always think, why not using some parts of your walls/cabinet doors and cover it with a mirror/mirror foil. If you do it in an interesting angle you can "open" up the feel of the space enormously. I like that you placed the storage for your camera gear as close to the cockpit as possible to have it quickly at hand during road trips. I also really like the placement of your "hidden" key lock for it. Not so sure though if it's the best idea to have it directly underneath your gas hob. To me that looks as it can be not just a potential issue with the heat. I know you are probably very aware and never keep your cooking unattended, but what happens, if something is "overcooking/overflowing" in your pot and it flows onto the bench? How much do you trust the sealing between the butcher block and the hob? Or in an even worse scenario, it might flow over the rim of the butcher block and potentially end up the drawer... On this note: Do you have plugs in this drawer to charge batteries? Might be something in general to consider for storage of this kind of equipment. That way you can keep all in one place, even when you need to charge it and you can leave it charging while being on the road without having it "flying" around on your counter. Dom you mentioned in one of your earlier video that you like to have a countertop extension (either flip-up or Lagoon mounted) behind the driver seat to make it a "temporary office". Here is an idea for that and potentially for your larger table in the back: We all like a sturdy look of countertops and tables, however they take space and most of the time they end up being very heavy. So I thought why not building it as a "false" butcher block style table top? Meaning: If you build it in sandwich style (three layers, two thin on top and bottom and just a slightly, thicker, framed support grid structure in the middle), you might be able to build in a thin, hidden drawer-style opening for thin items like paperwork, passports, flat SSD hard drives or even your notebook to store. And above all it would look sturdy, but would weigh empty significantly less than a full wooden butcher block. For the large table in the back, you just need to keep in mind to make sure it is still structurally sturdy enough to support the weight when sleeping on it. So therefore you potentially can't make a single, large build-in drawer into this one, but it should still be possible to do smaller once on one or both sides of it. A little bit like this example: ethanstuber.wordpress.com/2012/01/05/hidden-compartment-desk/ If you don't have a "garage/boot-fixed bed setup" these outdoor boxes are an amazing add-on extra storage. Love these as it doesn't end up on the roof, doesn't effect the aerodynamics of the van and increase the fuel consumption. I also found two interesting Van conversations in terms of hidden cabinets and storage solutions the other day... have a look at these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGWykKhsmJ19pM0 and kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2S8eGeGjpl0nKM Have a great week!

Helllo! Thank you for the kind messages but mostly for the recommendations. For the windows, the fabric we have completely black outs the light. To cover the front of the van (passenger and driver's seat), we just use a large blanket. It works fine. If you want to find more info on the collapsible containers, check out our ''Van Hacks'' video on our van. It shows allllll the things we use on a daily basis.

For simpler clothing storage, suggest using the Ranger roll for at least your t-shirts. The roll is neat, doesn't unroll and simplifies storage. There are instructional videos on KZbin on Ranger rolls for all your clothing.

Marie, just a suggestion... You can make your own dry shampoo for cheap as hell and it's environmentally friendly too! I use arrowroot powder and add some cacao powder to darken it a bit. Added bonus: your shower smells like hot chocolate when you wash your hair lol. Love you guys!!!
@vanlifesagas4 жыл бұрын
Nooo way. Where do you get that arrowroot powder? Must try that!
@@vanlifesagas The link suggested above is the one I have from Amazon but you can also find it at any health store. You can put it in an empty spice jar so you can basically 'sprinkle it' on your hair. Let me know how you like it!

Don, you could also say “clothes,” which you can pronounce the same as “close.” It might be easier.

That’s a very good trick. Do you have one for « clothing ».

You can say clothes instead of clothing. As in, “This is where I store my clothes.”

I can't say that I'd agree that "clothes" and "close" have the same prounounciation. Similar, but definitely not the same.
@sylviecaron68694 жыл бұрын
@@luns486 For a French person, the pronounciation is pretty much the same though. I just said outloud "my clothes" and "I am close to the market" and I don't hear any difference. :-)
