Vanquish Phoenix - Falken RTR Unboxing - How to install - dig, overdrive, and winch - tutorial - 4k

I've spent hours trying to find a good o-ring combo for the stock Vanquish shocks and I found it. Leaving one stock seal out of the 2 inside under the snap ring.. pick the tightest seal on the shaft out of the 2. Only use 1 stock shock seal. Then the black thin spacer, then finally a 2mm I.d silicone o-ring. Then the final cap and snap ring. When installing these parts, slide them onto the shaft first then slide them down into the shock with the final cap and snap ring. Do not force the shaft through the assembled shock, especially if the shocks have had oil in them at one point. The orings expand when wet.. so you can damage the orings by forcing the shaft through. 2mm orings I found on Amazon. I.d = inside diameter

This is great information! Typically at this point I would just replace them with 2660 and call it a day, but I will have to give this a shot for sure!! 🍻🍻

Thanks for sharing. Never understood why a lot of people put those $150 servos for dig/overdrive. Seems like overkill. I have a $35.00 servo in mine and never had issues. I did spend money on my steering servo.

The OD has 3 settings…you’re missing the 2 wheel option..

You're correct, but the controller (as stated in the video) is only a 2 setting for channel 3 (on or off). I also referenced why I wanted dig to be on channel 4. If you want neutral on both, I would suggest getting a radiolink or flysky to replace the stock system. Thanks for watching!! 🍻🍻

With the dig it is easier to set left and right End points to 5% and start from your neutral, adjust the servo horn to the right neutral position, close everything up tight and continue to adjust the endpoints.

If you adjust your steering trim you'll have to adjust your end points again because they have changed.

Overdrive = 7mm rod or 38mm eye 2 eye Dig = no sure, I don't have one off hand Sorry and hope it helps 🍻🍻

Awesome video. I'm currently building a piecemeal Phoenix, I just built the VFD Twin. I have the servos ready to install for OD and steering(I don't need DIG), but I need to get a bag of hardware from KnK to assemble the chassis. I also need a motor/esc, but I'm not sure what to use that won't burn up on a 2-4 mile hike.

@@the-ab-outdoors it's basically a stock Phoenix with SSD 8hole wheels and VXT Tires, about 7lbs. Going to be hauling a 2lb trailer with it as well.

Thank you for the super detailed start up! This is one of my first RTRs and the instructions left my wanting more info. Ordered servos from your links! Additionally, I like that you provide budget options as well as quality components. I thought about replacing the steering servo with a DS3235 and moving the stock servo to the dig side. What are the screws you are using for the servos? They look great!

Love your videos but you might want to redo this one? You got there in the end, and I'm glad you admitted when you made errors, but that was difficult to watch. It needs to be more clear how end points affect servo travel and how they relate to setting up overdrive and dig. Sorry, really not trying to be negative, just honest criticism. Still, appreciate what you do, thanks for the video ✌
