I'm stoked to be referenced / acknowledged in this episode. I consider this to be a pretty cool "shoutout," if you will, because it's in direct reference to being shown by one of skateboarding's most prolific and talented Skaters / Artists / Writers, the one and only, Neil Blender. I would like to take this opportunity to point out a couple of what I think are interesting factoids about all this. #1: While the accompanying story that Neil featured next to the picture of myself committing what was known as "Edge Play" (i.e. riding so close to the edge of the pipe opening that half of my board would stick outside of the pipe while I would pump a backside thruster and downturn to continue the ride,) in the now infamous and legendary original Upland Pipeline Skateboard Park Full Pipe, has no basis in fact as it relates to my personal life experience. However, the accompanying drawing by Neil of the young man, who bears somewhat of a resemblance to myself, who is depicted as running down a hallway with a multitude of doors on both sides, which are drooping and flying off the hinges and warping is actually eerily poignant. Let the truth be told: Many years before I met Neil Blender, or even knew of his existence, I had a middle of the night dream that was probably the most vivid dream I had ever had and have ever had, since. I won't bore ya'll with all of the dreams details, but I will confess that a significant highlight of the dream involved myself involved in a situation all but identical to what is portrayed in Neil's drawing. I NEVER told any other human being about that dream. So.... How did Neil "Gleen" this imagery in relation to being associated with myself in a public magazine artwork / cartoon presentation years after the fact, with no first or second hand information about the dream I had with that same scenario many years before? #2: The picture of myself riding the Upland Pipe was taken by freelance photographer / Uncle Wiggley Associate / UWS Graphic designer extraordinaire, and one of the coolest / nicest human beings I have ever met on this planet..... David Omer. Mr. Omer relatively recently passed away at a much too early age from a debilitating psychological / neurological disorder. I don't mean to diss on Mr. Grosso's / Vans video presentation in any way. I just simply feel a personal need of "Historic Responsibility / Respect Factor / Credit where Credit is Due" type of thing. Mr. David Omer's name does not appear in the end photo contribution credits, and I just wanted to take the time and make the effort to set the record straight. i appreciate what Jeff Grosso and VANS does for the history of skateboarding very much, and I'm quite sure that if Jeff and his team, had been aware of this factoid, he/ they would have made certain to include Mr. Omer's contribution in the credits. No hard feelings whatsoever, I just wanted ya'll to know. For those who took the time to read all this, Thank You for your time and rock on and on and on~

GLOBAL FOCUS story: I was an early subscriber to TWS, and submitted photos that ran in their Global Focus pages. When I found out I was moving from Edmonton Alberta to Mississauga Ontario in 1984, I wrote the mag, as I had seen a shot of a ramp in Mississauga with a dude named Chris Guild riding it. Bryan Ridgeway wrote me back with Chris' address, so I could write Chris a note to get in on the ramp! Sessioned it first day off the plane, postage stamps, and small skate world lesson for life. Get busy!

I was a huge Blender fan (and Miller and G&S in general). Their decks were hard to come by in my part of Canada so I had someone pick me up one on a trip to Florida. It was a Blender that they brought back but it was a G&S Fibrelite Blender , thing was made out of space age foam, rubber and some sort of plastic. Anyone remember those?

I enjoy this so much, there is no way to explain at all! Don't want to sound phony, or smeer my drooling liquids onto anything than me or me closest conscious ones; only those able to defend themselves like a worthy opponents, far from being close to bait and such. ____ Since around 87, living in Germany, in a small northern german called Bremen, I and some friends never ever left a Single issue of either Thrasher or TWS. The third one, the one out of competition was R.A.D from the UK. And, yes, german Monster Magazine, only for the laughs on what the rest of the germans thought skateboarding was about. The bunch of us, never ever having seen any halfpipe, bowl, or even a damn jump ramp, naturally sucked up those two major mags. Sure, Thrasher always was the one. But TWS was a worthy challenger. Being products of our surroundings, we had to go for what later was named 'street skating', and we never skated any streets, just as Natas or Gonz did not by 99.8%! And still, those two mags made us admire anything else out there just tge same, like Hosoi or Grosso, Jeff Phillips and Cab, and the lidt is endless. F#$ck! Enough of my drooling about now. Loving this. This is part of my world here. Didn't feelvto say this about anything the past twenty yearsvor more. Thanks a hell of alot, Mr. Grosso.
