In early 90's the top players were hitting so hard,compared to the 70's and 80's,Courier and Bruguera would of been great even by today standars.
@drlee27 жыл бұрын
Bruguera definitely not a joke. Actually won French again in in '94, beating Courier in the semis, then was a legit threat to 3-peat in '95 before getting taken down by Chang in the semis.

You know, Courier was the favourite, he hit the ball very hard that day

Courier won 2 FO’s, Bruguera won 2 FO’s, Kuerten won 3 FO’s. Nadal still has 6 more than all three combined. 😳

Nadal had weaker fields but definitely was better innhernal than any of these. Kuerten had the prettiest game though

Kind of similar play. A Spanish Jim Courier and American Sergei Brugera.

30:30 courrier: "Last year i talked like a spanish cow" (about his french,. He talked in french) 30:45 Courrier: "This year i played against a spanish cow" Haha ! :D

That's actually disrespectful of his opponent, i.e., implies he lost because he didn't play well.

@@Notir072 Uncle Tony has a huge problem with Courier who was a cool guy. His French was funny and good in a certain way. I loved him lol He was nice with the ball kids contrary to Uncle Tony says.

If you want proof that leg drive doesn't add any significant power to your serve, look at Bruguera's. Leg drive is for better net clearance by being up in the air. Bruguera didn't propell himself into the air and solved the net clearance with supreme kick serves (topspin).

Sergi Brugera was very good at Tennis but he didnt have the fire on Grass or Hard Courts.

Courrier's decline dates back to that same year, 1993, where he lost against Bruguera, at Wimbledon in the final against Sampras and in the third round at the U.S. Open against Pioline.
@t1mech1ldtc603 ай бұрын
Regardless, he was a still top OG back in day. I love his service motion ... it's like proper ... simple :). I wish tennis players never had a decline ... but we are all humans sadly.

kuerten killed bruguera ! so he would have destroy courier !
@datacipher6 жыл бұрын
That's funny because Courier leads Agassi 7-5 (and it was much worse before Courier deteriorated later in his career), and Agassi leads Kuerten 7-4 so therefore....oh wait....chain-reasoning tennis results in this manner is moronic.... in reality though, Courier and Kuerten did meet in a big match ON CLAY in DAVIS cup. Courier won: 6-3 6-2 5-7 7-6(11)

@@spirg Nadal didn’t play with the racquets they did play with. The spin he generates was impossible with 90s racquets. Makes a big difference.

Huge speeches :-) (i'm french). Too bad we don't see the whole 5th set and especially those 2 or 3 consécutive rallies when bruguera finally went over courrier that day. Big final anyway - only the 2004 one reached that suspense ever since. Anyway Thanks for the vid.

Lisa, I'm not sure Jim was a "wonderful guy." Wonderful guys don't hit the ball at the chair umpire, or, shake the umpire's chair, or, hit/damage the umpire's chair, or, chastise the ball kids, etc., etc.
