the wii was definitely very corporate. perhaps what you are getting at is the differences in aesthetic trends between the eras? look up 'frutiger aero' (for the wii) and 'flat design' (for the switch), I think that might explain the effect you are describing here.

Almost done with highschool and I saw the comment 3 weeks ago on how this guy is 18 now. Just been searching the internet and doing things that reminded me of being a kid, looking at legos, watching old minecraft youtubers, buying wii games, and listening to the music on youtube. I love Wuhu island. I had Wii Fit since I was in kindergarten and I would always play this bicycle game that takes you around the island. I completed all of the mission levels and reached free play so I would get to explore the whole island while stepping up and down on the Wii Balance board like a funny person. regardless of how I looked, I was having the time of my life.

not a musician for that matter, but one reason could be that they went a different direction with their game production, and thus decided to make new music for those games that are more suitable than the music from the older games? just a theory

It’s a combination of nostalgic sounds and sweet elevator pop sounding I guess. Almost sounds like the music transports you back in time. Nintendo’s branding is strong within the music it really is almost an adjective in itself

Listening to this really brings a tear to my eye, since I grew up with Nintendo systems from that era (DS, Wii, 3DS, Wii U). So many great memories playing all these consoles... Now it seems that the "Switch era" is the new direction od Nintendo, since Wii U and 3DS are completely dead next year. 😟😢 Some dislike that old "Iwata era", because they consider consoles from that time period to be "too gimmicky", but this is the Nintendo that I remember from my youth.
