Vaporwave is ironic in its content, highlighting the false consciousness embodied by 90's corporate pop culture. This is evident in the aesthetic by techniques used; stretching samples to practically strip them of original meaning, reductions in fidelity, effects giving ephemeral / ghostly / transitory feeling, etc. The reason for this haunting melodrama is not a fond nostalgia for something passed. It's a desperate longing for something we thought passed us by, but never truly was.

Holy shit I was enjoying this, fell asleep about halfway in and woke up sweating to around 2:35:00 and felt this overwhelming sense of terror like something was in my room speaking to me in some abstract language and had no idea the album was still going and was confused for like a minute or two but it felt like eternity. That being said I really like this little mix

Oh man, I could imagine. 😅 I try to refrain from falling asleep on vaporwave tracks like this. There's quite a bit I heard that has a sound like this. It's such a distorted and weird type of sound. Even when listening to this while I'm working now, I feel Iike I'm in some type of bad horror movie lol.

@@a.c.7573 Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. I am not sure what is Slushwave or Signalwave or Vaporwave. I think the two first album here is Vaporwave, but there is 20 substyles of Vaporwave and which of these it is I cannot say. You seem to know for sure. The last album I guess is Slushwave even if I don't know, I am just guessing. I know more now then just a few months ago, and I can say that this is not 'Dreampunk', which is something in-between Cyber-ambient and Vaporwave I imagine.

@@LadetJahonen ah I see you are new to vaporwave. Ok, dreampunk, slushwave, signalwave, and vapormeme are all vapowave subgenres. Slushwave is recognisable from it's use of phaser effects that give the song it's "slushy" sound, most of telepath's music goes under slushwave such as the albums featured in this video. Signalwave usually uses looped old commercials and media to sorta sound like a broken tape recording, check out Infinity Frequencies' "between both worlds" as an example. Dreampunk has a similar style to slushwave with it's ambient sound but it has themes of cyberpunk and dystopia, a good example is chasumasuta's "I am chesumasuta". Vapormeme is a satirical take on vaporwave and is basically meant to poke fun of the genre as a whole which is why there isn't a fixed sound for vapormeme. Hope this helped lol.
