good vid but 2 comments - i use a J Roller to ensure it sticks together properly (cost like $12-$15) & safety is a must so use protective eye wear or a face shield

TexasSteven, This particular customer wanted the black laminate over the Twobit Score decals. Plus, the laminate with the spray adhesive was cheaper than the decals from Twobit Score even if it takes a little more time to do. Also, we can get the laminate from our local hardware store where as we have to wait on the decals to ship from Twobit Score. We have also featured your question on episode 7 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thanks.

Great video. Questions. Can you detail of link exactly what type of black laminate that is and where you get it? I tried Lowes/home depot and they didn’t now what i was talking about. Can i get from amazon? Also, is that laminate good for the rear and areas that won’t have artwork over it? I need something for the back of my arcade and top, and I’m wondering if that black laminate is the type i should use, instead of vinyl wrap.

thanks for the vid, I resurfaced a bathroom counter with Formica before and now I know why I did a crappy job... I should have used the correct tool ( not a regular router ) !

@djfreebey If you're asking if you need to remove the insides of the cabinet before you start the lamination process the answer is no. It does make the cabinet lighter and easier to deal with but it is definitely not a requirement for laminating an arcade cabinet.

@djfreebey We like to remove laminate using a heat gun. You can get them from your local hardware store. Using the heat gun against the laminate will help loosen up the adhesive which should make it easier to remove it. We have also featured your question on episode 18 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thanks for your question.

Hey Tim, I am restoring a TMNT arcade and need to apply the side art I got on ebay. Isn't there some kind of laquer to apply before and after the art is applied? Thanks, great videos and advice.

i have a question im new to arcade collecting, yesterday i bought my first cabinet with a emulator. the cabinet is in bad shape but a perfect restoration project. i notice one side of the machine is bare board which someone rolled with paint on. the other side of the machine is a black paper (im guessing this is vinyl?) i want to put decals on the side of the machine so im guessing it needs to stick to that vinyl that is on the left side, and im guessing i have to put a sheet of vinyl on the bare wood side before i apply a vinyl sticker to it? does that sound correct?

Hope you respond. Is it ok to apply new laminate OVER existing 20-30 year-old laminate? If so, should you rough up the old for better adhesion using sandpaper or something? THANKS!!!

Dip switch on board may be set to not keep highscores. Or flash memory battery is bad also. (CR2032)

Why don't you guys just buy new decals from Twobit Score? Might be cheaper than paying for all the materials (and time) doing the way you demonstrated here
