I watched this fight live when I was doing Muay Thai, I knew nothing about Thai fighters, and this was my first and only pro fight I watched live. Lerdsila was in my gym training the night before this fight, I remembered watching him tossing the trainers and fighters in my gym like tossing rag dolls without breaking a sweat. Then he got defeated by some other fighter on stage the next night. That was a huge moment for me, it made me realized how much levels there is to this art. I have only now learned now how big Lerdsila is and how impressive of a feat it is for you to have managed and prepared to win this fight from The Modern Martial Artistst. Thanks for the in-depth breakdown, hope to see more of it in future.

As an exfighter you should know this was fixed. This is not normal lerdsila technique. The other fighter is good but not clean. He has massive sloppy holes that lerd would normally take easy advantage of.

I trained with Lerdsila about four or five years ago in Phuket. I was no where near a pro fighter but needless to say the guy played with me like a someone plays with a baby. I couldn’t even touch him. He was a super nice guy and at the time I didn’t even know he was this big superstar fighter. To beat him is a great achievement and speaks to your talent as a fighter.

@@davifurtado6534 combat sports aren't a game of numbers, buddy. A loss by split decision is wayyy different than a loss by first round KO, and same for wins. That's why things like "MMA math" don't hold water. Did you also know that Lerdsila went on an 80-100 fight win streak at one point in his career? Many of his losses happened as a kid and teen, which is when Miay Thai fighters start training. Makes Gabriel's win more impressive as well.

Seeing what Lerdsila is capable of against high level opponents and then seeing how well you handled him in this fight is jaw dropping. Several examples of absolutely technical mastery here. That head kick, that sweep, that back fist. Lerdsila is my favorite fighter of all time. I really enjoyed your fight with him and the commentary. It made it feel like a buddy of mine fought and beat the greatest fighter of all time and hung out with me and told me about it as we watched it. Very fun and entertaining. Awesome content!

That's an awesome comment. Maybe I'll do a youtube live chatting about the fight with Lerdsila 🤔 Then we can all hangout and really talk about it.

@@GabrielVargaOfficial I’m seriously honored you even responded to my comment. Anyone who even steps into the ring with Lerdsila is a legend in my mind. More than the fact you beat him, the fact you remain humble is placing you at the top of my favorite fighters list. Thanks again for the incredibly entertaining video. I’ve watched it three times now. And I agree with you. Your back hand punch was clearly a KO. Honestly, I’m sure the ref would agree if he watched the replay like we can.

ModernMartialArtist brought me here. You have rekindled my interest in kickboxing, Gabriel. You come cross as what I'd consider the embodiment of the true warrior ethos: dangerous, skilled, respectful, humble, practicing "soft arts" as well (just followed your IG and saw you play the piano). If only professional martial artists were like that in general, doing introspective work and working on their 'inner game' and ego as much as their combat/hard skills. Much respect and love, Varga.

Welcome to the channel. I agree. If all the fighters embraced martial arts values I think it would be much better for the sport. I'm glad you are excited about kickboxing again 👍

Your defense was impeccable, it looked like the only shots he landed were the ones you let him land, and your offense felt accurate, always on point. To see combined defense and offense like that is a rare sight. Thank you for sharing and with commentary. Cheers!

Wow, how much preparation a fighter needs before a fight and only have a very small space of time to react on certain movements from the opponent. My respect grows for every fighter after this vid.

Lerdsila from what I've heard is a great competitor and from your demonstration of talent as well as technical prescision. I am thoroughly impressed with both athletes. Very impressive legacies in themselves.

awesome video man, super cool to see so much success from a guy outa bc! Your breakdowns really do a great job of reminding people that combat sports are in fact an intellectual pursuit. Only critique would be the audio levels in this video seem a bit low.

Let us know if we can annoy Glory to get you the Saenchai fight :) You're gonna become the Muay Thai slayer; your boxing style and experience in Thailand has made you create such an efficient system to dismantle Muay Thai fighters. I'm surprised you're even sharing this, I feel like this would be top-secret hush-hush. Thanks so much for posting this. Your ring IQ and humility are inspiring.

Yes. It's hard to share "secret" stuff like this but I'm at the point where I feel I want to give back to others. I've had so many people help me in my career. I can't be all take without some giving. Man I want the Saenchai fight so bad. I'll definitely let everyone know when to start calling a promotion out to make the fight. Thanks.
