I never really was into Emperor (I found this while listening Limbonic Art and early Bal-Sagoth), but this catched me at first listen. Though with a sound clearly tributary to Emperor, I think the cinematic, dark fantasy elements (there are obvious LOTR references) makes the difference. I like it a lot.

much, much better than the debut. The debut was great but he/they have really fleshed the concept out on this one. I listen to this all the time, it gives off one of the most perfect cold/forest black metal feelings of any bm album ever. One of the only modern black metal albums that makes it into my top 10.
