I can't tell if it's meant as an affectionate parody of doom-type games or someone at really hates doom and is trying to take the piss out of it. I really hope it's the former as it both fits hypnospace's early 2000s vibe better and just because Doom is legitimately good.

@@kingkuma4112 It's as much an homage to Build (read: Duke Nukem 3D) style FPSes as much as Hypnospace Outlaw was an homage to the early internet. It's made by the character Zane_Rocks, which explains the incredible amounts of cheesy "epicness". It's from the point of view of someone who thinks all of this is "extremely epik". There's a demo out now and it really shows how much love the devs actually have for this era of shooters.
