I have been no-tilling a 1/2 of dryland since I bought it in 2006 after being in CRP. I Doubt it was fertilized or produced over 20 bu/ac. of continuous wheat in the 80 years before. It had a P level in 2006 of 6 ppm. A year ago I did a 0-6" results of 45 ppm. Last week I found a Mehlich 5-11" depth result of 7 to 12 ppm. Zn 0-6" 1.5 ppm. Now the deep test showed .66 ppm. A Ph of 6.6. CEC was 26. There has been over 6" top soil lost to wind erosion. Zn and P do not move from the surface in no till as this test shows. Next winter I will strip till in 10 gallons/ac of 10-34 7" deep.

I think we're heading in the same direction here. We limed last year and deep ripped for the first time after 8 years of no till with broadcasting. Thanks to the ripping and wet spring we're leveling with a disk and cultivator which will incorporate this latest P-K. I think next year the same plan of 10gpa 10-34-0 is right on as the P-K levels will be built up, maybe some maintenance broadcasting down the road. It took a lot of time and some years of profitable crops to be here.
